Wasn't it suggested to return standing sections in Premier league grounds? It would be one way of improving atmospheres at grounds such as Anfield.

Clubs are unsurprisingly reluctant to engage with safe standing, fans are easier to control when sitting plus obviously you can't charge someone the same price to stand up... I have noticed the mood softening on it though, aren't Celtic bringing it in and I think I've heard United making rumblings about it

Looks like Grujic will be Klopp's first signing. £4.3 m deal agreed according to Serbian paper. Loaned back to them till the summer.

If you're from Sandy Row.

Everton are the Catholic team on Merseyside

It must have been tough for them watching Ronnie Whelan lifting all those trophies.
the same ronnie whelan who was the 1st irish catholic to play for liverpool. nearly 100years of history before they would let one through the door. anyone got any irish relatives who moved to liverpool in the 1950's through to the 70's?? ask them how welcome they would have been made feel at anfield.

Who gives a flying fcuk which one is a Catholic club and which isn't.
It's not like being Catholic is anything to be proud of.

Never knew that.

But my comment was more about Sandy Row than Everton.

Was it just Irish Catholics that'd weren't welcome or was it the whole religion?

Many of them were in an awful state when they got to Liverpool

Plenty of Catholic players from Irish backgrounds played with Liverpool throughout the 60's and 70's including Chris Lawler, Tommy Smith and the recently deceased Gerry Byrne.

I'm sure the Protestant Everton fans were treated like royalty at Anfield. Just as well the Papists could be distinguished from the Prods by the....wait, how is this meant to have worked?

Can't say I've ever heard of him.

Anyone know anything about him?

Watched the required YouTube and he looks a good prospect. He's a good lump of a lad 6'3 or so and has a good look about him. Can score a goal too.

It matters because they excluded people of a certain Faith, they brought Religion into the equation, they were as bad in their own way as Rangers, it is a part of the legacy of the Club, a negative but they righted the wrong so nothing to see here on this score anymore.

That should have been obvious to you ffs!
Armagh, the one true love of a mans life.
