General discussion / Mobile Phone...
May 13, 2009, 11:04:21 AM
There's probably umpteen mobile phone threads on here but just thought I'd start a fresh one...

Due an upgrade shortly, anyone any recommendations as to what I should get....Past 2 phones have been Sony Ericsson, k800 (was a great phone) & K850i (which kept having to be fixed).  Liking the look of the C905 Cyber shot, but then again wary of sony ericsson after most recent hope.

Anyone any views or any other phones they recommend...?

Footballer puts wind up referee

A referee ordered a penalty to be retaken in a Sunday league football game when an opposition player broke wind as the ball was kicked.

The Chorlton Villa player got a yellow card for the noise which was classed as "ungentlemanly conduct".

The team, who conceded a goal on the second take, went on to win the match 6-4 against International Manchester FC at Turn Moss in Stretford, Manchester.

Villa manager Ian Treadwell said their conduct was "normally exemplary".

We are not a dirty team and we like to play football
Chorlton Villa manager Ian Treadwell

"One of our players 'broke wind' and only the referee heard it and he booked the player," he said.

"The other player had the penalty saved because it was a bad penalty; it was nothing to do with any noise. They were as shocked as we were as to why."

Mr Treadwell said he was waiting for the Football Association to contact them after it had received a report.

The Manchester Publicity league club faces total fines of £97 for three dismissals and two yellow card bookings from the game.

'Just hilarious'

Mr Treadwell said: "We are not a dirty team and we like to play football.

"While I won't condone the actions of the players, it is an emotive game and some of the players were sent off for entering into conversation with the referee.

"This has come at a bad time in the season as we don't have sponsor and we are looking for a new sponsor for next season."

Pauline Riley, secretary and treasurer of International Manchester FC, said both team were "very friendly".

"There's no animosity. It was just hilarious," she said.

General discussion / Spongebob Square Pants
November 10, 2008, 02:57:04 PM
My eldest (4years of age) more or less rules the TV in our house having to watch cartoons.  He goes buck mad if he doesn't get them on so its easier to let him watch them.  Like most kids that age he chops & changes what his favourite cartoon from week-to-week, none of which are watchable for me!

However, at the moment he is into Spongebob Square Pants.  Anyone ever watch it? I'm loving it, think it's quality, as is the movie.  Just hope I don't go home this evening and he has moved onto something else!  ;D

General discussion / Baby Monitors...
September 01, 2008, 11:02:32 AM
Anybody ever use these whilst the baby is asleep upstairs/in another room?

Put junior to bed last night, came back downstairs to watch abit of TV & sat the baby monitor beside me & the missus.  Now the couple across the road have just arrived home with a new born & I have heard that if 2 houses nearby have baby monitors switched on  sometimes one house can hear people talking in the other house & vice versa.

So sitting watching TV.....next thing started to hear strange noises through the monitor....turned it up a wee bit & what are we listening too.....the man across the road giving his missus a good run of seeing too...... ;D  ;D  ;D

Needless to say I think our baby monitor will be getting the boot just incase....

General discussion / Car finance question
July 11, 2008, 10:43:02 AM
I currently have a car financed through a car dealer & am thinking about changing sometime soon.  If I wish to purchase my new car through a different dealer can I simply just hand the car back to my current dealer & that's the end of that or will there still need to be a payment made on the original finance deal before I would start a new deal on a different car & dealer?

Any advice?

See front page of today's Irish News...

Johnny Adair "back in Northern Ireland"

It has been reported that exiled UDA leader Johnny Adair is in the final stages of returning to Northern Ireland.
The loyalist leader was exiled from the Shankill Road area of Belfast by rivals in 2005 and has since been living in Great Britain.

Media reports claim that Adair has been seen in Antrim with his son, Jonathan.

According to one report, he said: "I can confirm that I'm back in Northern Ireland at the moment and am in the final stages of buying a property here.

"When that is completed I intend to return to the Province to set up my own security company."

"I was once jailed for directing terrorism but now I'm directing a successful security company and making loads of money.

"I have 17 people working for me in places like Manchester, Warrington and Scotland.

"I am a legitimate businessman with an accountant and everything."

General discussion / Sky Digital
November 20, 2007, 11:30:35 AM
My sis has recently moved into her new house & is about to get sky installed. when i got my sky installed they said I had to have a phone line also, which, at that time i didn't as had just moved in etc. When it was installed they never seemed to check or care about a phone line. My sis has yet to get a phone line into her house so was wandering if you can still get away with installing sky without a phone line?

I always assumed the phone line was just to use all the interactive crap
