Title: E-SIM for travel outside EU
Post by: Shamrock Shore on February 24, 2024, 03:08:10 PM
Folks

Doing a bit of travel soon outside the EU and in the past have used a local SIM in an unlocked Iphone for date and hotspotting.

However a better solution would be to get an E-Sim which can be used on my 'real' phone for date/google maps/WhatsApp calls etc.

Anyone used these and recommend or is the local country SIM in the second unlocked phone a better bet?

I use a service called Nomad ... Google Nomad eSIM and download the app ... you buy directly from app for required duration, country etc. and install eSIM, very handy and seems good value so far.  Just use it purely for data when abroad when not covered by free roaming eg in US.

While flash phones do e-sims, not every phone does.

The boys and girls in Revolut must have heard me as they have just launched their own e-sim.

I presume Revolut is a thing up the North of Ireland?

Very popular this part of the world.
