This is bonkers,Utd have been poor for most of the season barring a handful of games yet it looks like we'll somehow get top four  ;D Pellegrini's getting the boot,is Rodgers going to get it too?

United have been improving bit by bit all year. Van Gaal has a history of starting off slowly with a team and improving through the season. I'm blue in the face saying it here, to much derision at times, that United were getting it right and I did say I thought that when the run of games against the better teams (who wouldn't just sit in and defend) came that United would perform better. I've been consistent in this. A pity my detractors, who were quite happy to ridicule me at times, weren't man enough to admit that I got it right.

Anyway - lots to be played for. Chelsea are just too far ahead but 2nd is up for grabs though a bad run of results could put top 4 in jeopardy also.

I think the prevalence of social media is a factor here. In the last 5 years you hear it non-stop about how bad Utd supposedly are. 10 or 20 years the club could lose games and have a middling season without the same backing track of noise.

In fairness to United they are getting results and that's all that matters.  I can't say they have played well or not as I have only seen them a few times.  The games that I have seen De Gea has been the best player on the pitch for them but in years gone by how often was Smicheal the best player they had.  There is a good bunch of players there and if they can be blended into the right formation they can be very good.  Still shaky defensively but a top 4 finish and a few new defenders and United will be very hard to beat.

It's sad that I will be cheering for them to beat City as I genuinely think that is the only avenue that we have to make top 4.

United played well at home to Newcastle and QPR earlier in the season but the caveat of those teams being absolutely muck should also be noted!

United have found form in the last 3 games. Read an article a few weeks ago (forget by who) talking how Van Gaal's Bayern found form all of a sudden after a few months of mediocrity.

Mata on the right and Herrera both finding form have been key I think.

Can't be arse thrawling back through here but I recall a long debate how city were streets ahead of United. Just goes to show you how quickly things can change.

Don't rate City as a club at all personally, it's like the players know they are there for a cash cow and that's about it. 2 titles (handed to them by United in 2012 and Chelsea/Liverpool last year) and shocking performances in the champions league.

I read this morning that only 2 of City's team last night were under 29, Kompany and Aguero, with Kompany turning 29 this week. Could be their time is up unless they take on FFP this summer which the Neviller was advocating they should do last night on Monday night football.

If they're cute they'll get big money of the likes of Toure, Nasri and several others that they'd be better off without. To be honest, a CL ban is no biggie to them because they've not made an impact in it anyway and a fine would be beyond stupid.

Will the opposite not happen?? Like I said they're all 29 or older and aren't going to attract the type of transfer fees City need to replace them especially on the amount of money they're getting paid at City. A Champions League ban would be huge for them, City were basically bought to promote a country, what better way to do that than win the Champions League, they might be doing gash in it at present but you can be sure that's what one of their ultimate aims is.

magpie seanie

Maybe you're right, I've not given it huge consideration to be honest.

bit silly calling city a cash cow when united when out and spent up to 150 million on players and the money they have spent on falaco only for a season loan crazy, and to never be in the title chase and no CL football this season . they have 1 world class player and thats Rooney without him this season united would be only 6th or 7th and thats a fact.

Do you not think De Gea has been better than Rooney?
