Really enjoyed the game tonight thought it was gripping stuff to be honest.  United started like a house on fire, Bayern couldnt handle nani or Valencia on the wings and Rooney was brillaint at holding the ball up and bringing other players into the game (see Gibsons goal for reference on this).  For the first 35 minutes United where dominate and it looked like how many it would be, they where working like trojans chasing down Bayern players and not giving them a minute to settle on the peil at all.

You have to give credit where credit is due though, with about 10 minutes to go in the first half Bayern really got a hold of themselves and started to play a bit after the shell-shock of going 3 goals down.  Fair play to them, a lesser team would have thrown the head up and said f**k this, 3-0 down in old Trafford, damage limitation job here, but they didnt, Bayern started to get Ribery and Robben more invloved and Lamh started to attack a bit.  Olic also started to throw his weight about and got rewarded, abliet with some shocking defending from carrick who in my opnion is a shocking player and no where near good enough to play Lar Naparka for United.  The sending off had a profound impact but again Bayern where outstanding in their ball retention, however still, to me, i though Nani and Valencia looked like they could catch them on the break.  Robben scored a wonder strike but something had to give with the pressure they where under.  Hard tp defend solid for 40 minutes with no real posession.  All in all a really good game but over the 2 legs i think the best team won.  Think the Germans had that extra bit of quality where it mattered.

I will once again show my quote i said a few weeks ago when the draw for this tie was made and everyone was buying their plane tickets for Madrid.

Underestimate the Germans at your peril.  this will not be an easy tie, Bayern will be stiff opposition, they have a right bit of quality in their team.

NEVER WRITE OFF THE GERMANS.

You heard it here first.

Hate to say I told you.....no wait I Dont  ;D ;D ;D ;D  get in there Bayern.

Rooney off with a broken foot also, could it all go pear shaped for United?  Bayern where the better side, more quality than United.

Self praise is no praise, or so my mother used to say ;)

QuoteBut my argument is stat's prove it all. When they decide it and if he get's it because he scored 30 goals..sure that's a stat is it not..

Then you'll be able to explain how David Ginola won Player of the Year in 1999 ahead of Keane, Scholes, Cole or Yorke?

Because he was the best player there...

Stats?  Here's a tip.  Don't post on an empty head.

Dont mess with quotes that not good....See what UTD win then...... Average in every other position on the field.. Keeper ( VDS....PENSIONER).....Right back (PENSIONER Gary Neville) Centre Half (Rio I don't need a piss Ferdinand) Centre Half Vidic (ok player) Evra(I can kick any one but i'm that small no one cares) Midfield...Paul Scholes(I think i can just kick around me and get off with it because i'm so old) Anderson(I'm just glad to be here) Fletcher(I cant wait to kick another Arsenal player...I cant play football maybe it will rub off) usually i just run around like a headless chicken...Giggs...My arms broke leave me out of this... Nani...Clear the way in coming to flip up there!! Wjat do you mean i'm crap? Berbatov (zzzzzzzzzzzzzz) sori missed all that i was having a wee kip...Rooney lol   Average player compared to Pele!!!!!Q!

seriously pat are you for real  ??? you have to be drinking with comments like those

what's with all this pensioner business, are you 18 or something.......

get one thing straight united since 1990 to the present day are a damn good team one of the best in European football why??? because Fergie made them that way!!!!

you may not like that or even hate it........... but a little respect & been able to admit how good a team is something you should try out

Probably some of the same players playing since 1990...Get real they should have sacked Ferguson then... I respect Utd as a good team but they are not what everyone thinks they are ( one man team) by that I mean there is one player at a complete higher standard than the rest of the team and if he gets injured UTD are fcuked...Who they going to bring in Diouf??..... I will have a whole lot more respect for them when they go through a whole unbeaten but I guess we all know that's never going to happen! Van Persie is Arsenals main player and they have had to cope without him for last 3 mths...How far up the league would ManU be if Rooney got the same injury?
U should stick to watching Pat because your posting is pointless.

Is going through a season undefeated the be all and end all???

Better than winning a Treble??

Better than winning three leagues in a row???

Better than back to back Champions league final appearances??

Arsenals excellent league winning team of 03-04 did go through the season undefeated but their points total of 90 has been surpassed by United twice and Chelsea twice, even last year a non-vintage United team equalled the total. Remember a win and a loss yields three points while two draws only yields two. ;)

One last stat as I know you like them Arsenal lost more games in all competitions in their "invincible" season than United did in their treble winning season.. Can we have some of ur respect now, please :P

QuoteThe 1990-91 season was particularly great for Steve Bruce, as he managed to net an incredible 13 League goals for United and 19 in all competitions. However, despite the rugged defender's and The Reds' great season they did lose out in the League Cup final to Sheffield Wednesday, courtesy of Manchester born, John Sheriden's long range strike.

I'm right but only just...

Fairly shocked by that statistic.

lol you got in before me  :D

speaking of kings what about Denis law

Legend... he relegated them  8)... he should have celebrated a bit more though.

Seems many of these boys with green and yellow scarfs leave the place wearing the red tops and bags full of Man U- Glazier- merchandise  ::)

Possibly true, but the green & gold is still the best thing to happen for the anti G-L-A-Z-E-R campaign. The media exposure has been widespread and that photo of Beckham wearing the colours is pure gold.

Wasn't aware of the significance my arse

i Don't think anyone mention the importance of Rio & Vidic to the united team, i'll say it again keeping these two fit will make all the Difference!

my one worry after a huge Result like last night is hopefully it doesn't get to their heads! like Roma game a few years ago, cause united are as good as any team left & over confidence could knock them out

Wouldn't have thought that last nights was a HUGE result, on all known from form United were miles ahead of Milan...

What did you lot make of the comments by the perennial Fergie Brown-noser Dave Whelan yesterday?

The chairman of one premiership club has a go at the manager of another, so whats that got to do with the manager of a third club?????

Actually when you strip away the obvious media sensationalism he's got a point

Just to disagree with you both
Just to disagree with you both, Ferguson seldom plays 442 in big games even at home, so I'd expect this line-up. If he wants to play Berbatov maybe Rooney goes to left side??

VDS

Neville/Rafael, Rio, Vidic, Evra

Valencia, Fletcher, Scholes, Park, Nani

Rooney

While agreeing that the article is a load of shite and that Samuel is indeed an arse I wouldn't be holding Masch up as somebody who holds the history of Liverpool that close to his heart. Like most modern day footballers he'll spend 2-3 or 4 years max at several clubs throughout his career maximising his earnings as he does so. He'll give his all for any club he plays for (as he does with Liverpool) he's just lucky that he's talented enough to be be able to pick and choose where his next stop might be. I don't think there is much wrong with this attitude to be honest, in this era of mega money contracts its just us fans that have emotional attachments to clubs.

I'd say thats spot on Boycey.

The difference is that you are not letting your emotions cloud your analysis of this situation

I'd agree with Boycey. I'm not niave and know the majority of footballers look at the pounds first and foremost.

My first post on this issue still stands though. Samuels wrote a shit article and your posts suggested that he was purely a money man. I wouldn't have him down as that, he's very well paid and knows his market rate. In terms of return, as crazy as the money is, he is value for it. If he leaves I can see him going to Barca or Real, cause they will match his ambition in footballing terms. He knows he'll get the money. City have only money to offer and I believe thats the point he's making.

City have only money to offer but if he was offered 200k of it a week I'd say he'd take it (as would 99% of players)

I apologise if there is already a Premiership thread I never looked.....

Saw one of them top premiership goals things recently and it reminded me how much I hated Alan Shearer. It wasn't who he played for or any bad tackle he did, it was his God awful goal celebration, one poxy arm raised, the same time after time I used to think "show some originality you c**t".

Anyone else hate a player for some ridiculous reason and I don't mean things like "gary Neville cause he's a Manc twat" or "Ronaldo - the diving winker" or Craig Bellamy cause hes Craig Bellamy reallly!!!!

p.s Just thought of another, Shay Given why does he feel the need to celebrate every time he saves a bloody shot?

and yeah it is a slow day at work before anyone asks
