GAA Discussion / Role of club coaching officer
July 14, 2023, 10:56:28 AM
Looking for some feedback on what a club coaching officer does in your club, not what they should do according to the GAA docs ...

How much input does your coaching officer have on coaching individual teams ? How do you get coaches to adhere to the direction set by the coaching officer?

Any good initiatives your coaching officer has started ?

Hello,

i've previously coached at underage level, mainly u14,u16.
Recently I've started with my young lad at u6s. Im looking for tips for running a u6s session, obviously the main goal has to be enjoyment for the kids. There is some difference between some of the kids who can nearly kick with both feet and other kids who can barely pick the ball off the ground. We have circa 30 kids at u6 ! so crowd control is a factor !

Our club AGM is next weekend, the current chairperson is stepping down, but no one is remotely interested in taking over from her. What happens in the situation where a chairperson can't be found ? can a club still register and field teams ?

GAA Discussion / Scoreboards for Club grounds
June 07, 2021, 05:32:21 PM
Hello,

Has anyone recently bought a scoreboard for their club grounds. We're looking at options at the moment.

Ideally I'd like to get one which i could update from a mobile phone, rather than have a specific controller for it that could get lost.

GAA Discussion / Club Training during lockdown
January 04, 2021, 04:57:32 PM
Apologies if there is another thread on this matter already.

Just wondering how clubs teams are training during the lockdown whilst still being compliant with the rules. Is your club giving your players programmes to follow ? Any clubs doing s&c via zoom ?

Hi Folks,

Just wondering have many clubs continued their club lottos during the lockdown ?

How are you pulling the numbers for the draw ?

Any tips for promoting online club lottos ?

thanks

GAA Discussion / Club Flood lights
February 14, 2018, 10:45:23 AM
I'm looking to find out more about the current state of play in regard to Floodlights

As a club our longer term goal is to get proper match ready floodlights, however the pricing we have got is circa 100k.  Any recommendations on what contractor to use ?

Until we get the money gathered for the proper floodlights we're looking at alternatives. We're considering getting a local electrician to erect some lighting that will enable us to train but not play matches until we get the proper flood lights. Has anyone tried this approach ? was it expensive ?

I noticed that you can now buy portable floodlights, ones you can carry away in a bag ? Has anyone tried them ?
