I'm heading  to Letterkenny for weekend in February, would like to go drive or walk on the Saturday, was wondering what is better to do, Atlantic drive or head over to Slieve League, I'm aware that's it's a lot further of  a drive but I'm not bothered by that. Or any other suggestions of places to spend the day? (Other than a pub lol)

The Poisin Lake, Dunlewy, Errigal and Glenveigh, all beautiful and close

Horn Head up around Hunfanaghy is a nice drive also

Sliabh Liag and Maghera Beach are stunning. Beautiful waterfall beside the beach too.

I went over new year. Got a wee cottage outside Ardara on Air BnB. Really, really nice part of the world.

Sliabh Liag is a bit out of the way....go out the road and take a left and go round the back of Errigal. Absolutely stunning .

Oh christ, why do people go to Letterkenny?! It's a bloody hole.

Portsalon is a nice quiet spot. Great beaches too. Famine village on Inishowen. Is it still open?

Portsalon is lovely. Ballymastocker bay is the best beach in Ireland.

Would agree stay fairly local. Sliabh l is a 3 hr round trip. Consider climbing Errigal or Muckish. Do some of the many walks around GLenveigh. Consider walks around Ards Friary/ Ards forest park, it's the far side of cresslough. The town of L,Lenny is a bit of a shithole.
