"Garda warning"...computer virus! Help needed!

Hi folks, just browsing this evening and loans behold this " Garda warning" virus pops up on my laptop ! Am I best advised to bring it somewhere to get fixed or is there anything I can do to rid myself of it!!

Yeah best google for the exact steps needed.
Basically you need to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, start your laptop in safe mode and run Malwarebytes.

It's possibly the ukash virus?
It installs on your machine and throws up a police warning, depending on where you are, asking for £100 to be removed because you've broke some sort of law?

My brother had it recently, although it was a Metropolitan Police warning (must have got the NI ip and decided we were in the uk).

I had to boot in safe mode to the Dos prompt and create a new user on the laptop. Then reboot and log in as this new user. This let you into the computer without the virus window. Then I went about uninstalling anything i didn't recognise and running a free antivirus check to remove it. Job done :)
