Clonduff looked good on Sunday and I expect them to beat Burren. Burren looked good on Sunday in the first half but Mayobridge will be kicking themselves with some wayward shooting. I think Clonduff forwards will be a lot more clinical and a Kilcoo v Clonduff final will certainly be a tasty affair.
Darragh should now win the intermediate after Liatriom being ousted. Liatroim were riddled with injuries and if they are going to improve in football they will need to choose hurling or football. It's not doing the players any good.
The Fin are strong favourites for the junior and I expect the 3 championships to come to the East in the next few weeks.

No merit in that, none of those you're referencing had anything to do with hurling.

Drumgath were a very well organised outfit and full value for their win.

Went online to book at a test at 10:00, booked and completed by 13:00. I would be calling bullsh1t on some of you.

I have great sympathy for educators this year, not sure what can be expected of them in light of the guidance.

I can get the fact that there needs to be controls of 'goods' entering NI from Britain but I was looking at it from the likes of foods not materials like wood, steel and things like that.

The reason why I'm asking is that more and more companies are not delivering to the north and I'm taking, lets say, garden furniture, what's the difficulty in the paperwork or is it a handy excuse to not bother shipping here?

My take is that while it may not be that hard to get up to speed with the paperwork we are such a small market most just can't be ars*d.

This and the pricks in GB haven't fully resourced their end of the bargain. Probably didn't expect the EU to make them honour their side of the agreement, charlatans.

So our useless reps at Westminster can't pull these companies and show them up for what it is?

I spoke to one of the firms that I was trying to order from, he said due to brexit we can't deliver, I said I work for a company that delivers from all over Europe and UK to the North, why can't you brext was his reply, no other reason, pure lazy

I would say the effort, or any effort is being deemed not worth the reward for the number of units they are shipping to the north. I would imagine that quite will wait to see how it pans out and will reassess once the difficulties (perceived or otherwise) are ironed out (who knows when that might be).

Like do coaches of U9 or U11 teams go around telling their mates about the great wins the team had? Are they down the pub talking about the sweeper system they've implemented? I wouldn't want to be in the same building with these eejits.

Some of them must think it's a way into senior management or something. I'd be disappointed for the lads themselves if they have a bad game but that's it. I've seen some coaches, including some of our own, go off at lads after the game. That won't help anyone. You can't expect U11s to be consistent every week.
Refs can't do right for doing wrong either at that level, they get abuse for being too strict and then the same ones give them stick for being too lenient.

Some of those managers do go on to take senior teams within their club, there's only two levels I haven't been involved with over the years, for a lot of the years it's always been the same volunteers looking after teams, it's only when a 'golden' team comes along that people are really interested in getting involved,  use the word involved, loosely...

Shouting at kids is wrong, I've spoken to managers during juvenile games I'm refereeing at, telling them that they can't do it. The competitive side of things will always kick in at some point and as long as it's measured there's nothing wrong with teaching that.

All clubs need to have a juvenile chairman and committee with a clear plan to work with, I feel managers should take a team right through to minor and then go back to the start, continuity with kids I feel is important, it can be stressful and takes up a lot of your time outside of work, but it's enjoyable to see them turn into lovely young men or women if you're involved with the ladies games.

Not sure I would agree with that, I would say that any of us take a small bit from every coach we have, important to be exposed to different ideas and deliveries.

I would say that competitiveness should be gradually introduced from U15, at the end of the day a successful juvenile coaching team (fundamentals through to U17) should be judged on how many individuals remain involved through to the adult teams and their improvement/development along the way.

Cluxton is a strange man and its no surprise we are in a strange situation.

He is either in or he is out. Short term, long term, doesn't matter. If he wants a year off, best of luck to him, he deserves it. Put he needs to piss or get off the pot.

As long as Dessie Farrell and his team mates know the real story it doesn't matter two shiny shites what we and journalists know or don't know about his situation.

He's an amateur player giving up his time for free. Should he not want to do that anymore it's his business and his business alone.

+1 Dessie Farrell has no obligation to say anything to the media. I'm sure the players and management are well aware of his intentions and it would typical of his personality to try and quietly bow out rather than having to deal with all the hassle from the press demanding interviews if he is retiring

Except he's doing the opposite. He's creating an "is he/isn't he" circus around it. He doesn't have to release a statement or do interviews.
He just needs to tell Dessie Farrel "I'm finished" or "I'll be at next training session". Stop the messin.
But how do we know he hasn't?

If he did, why would Farrell say he doesn't know whether his captain will be playing for hsi team or not?
It just makes him look weak and not in control.

To whom? Anyone outside the 'group' is completely irrelevant, if it is those within the squad then it is a problem but I would be surprised if that is the case.

It appears to me that Nolan has played on the decision of the other party that their anonymity was of greater value than the 6 figure sum which I don't believe necessarily confirms their guilt as fact, but simply that they would prefer to pay the fee and remain anonymous.

Which also (if the rumour is true) raises a huge question on the earning potential of a SpAd in salary and/or 'expenses'

Paul Flynn would be one of Stephen's best mates - his words this morning show there's clearly more to this than retiring - hope all is ok.

He is 100% right, I'm sure Dessie and the squad are suitably informed as to Cluxton's availability or otherwise, what those on the SG are really complaining about is that they don't have the inside track on the story, they nor us have any entitlement to it imo.

What did Flynn say?

https://twitter.com/Flinto23/status/1411952520541487105

"Stephen Cluxton deserves time and space if he needs/wants it. It's an amateur sport, he isn't contracted or obligated play. He can opt in or out or be deselected at any time! Nobody knows what's going on in any players life as to why they need/ want a break. Nonsense on the SG!"

I wouldn't listen to him at all. The problem is not as simple as turning it off. He stirs up hate for a living and it does nothing for this place. You hear some nonsense about this place almost being ready to go to war when it's a very small minority who are annoyed by this border stuff. He provides a voice for those morons and tbh I imagine the likes of him is the reason that lcc have a voice.

Exactly that, particularly as someone who is employed by the 'national' broadcaster and paid via license fee, it's shameful for the BBC. We are not talking about a commercial station here dependent on advertising revenue.

Quote from: brokencrossbar1 on July 03, 2021, 05:57:26 PM
The only way you stop the Nolan juggernaut is by not listening to him. His ratings make him untouchable and this weeks events will have strengthened it. For what it's worth it seems he had a strong case against the Pastor. Loads of defamatory comments on the petition he set up which he didn't monitor.

As for Tim McKane he has tried to engage Nolan on the make up of his show, particularly in terms of the over exposure to the likes of Jim Allister. He is a bit obsessive and that dilutes his point I think. It's no different to the heckler and the comedian. The man with the microphone always has the last word....that's Nolan.

He has become more desperate of late, valid points no doubt but it is becoming rambling at this stage.

Has anyone got an idea what is the best product I can use to dampproof the inside surface of a poured concrete retaining wall?
I'm going to be building off the retaining wall and using it as the outer leaf of 100mm cavity wall for garage
I've to do around 9m x 2m.
Sheeting, spray on etc? Thanks

KÖSTER Deuxan Professional
Applied with Trowel
More here and sounds like similar job: https://www.facebook.com/365044586981264/posts/1901981836620857/?d=n
Thanks. Looks like a good product
I was hoping to do the internal/negative side of the retaining wall

Where are you based? I had some pain in the hole with waterproofing a basement and getting it through building control in the north. I ended up with a (expensive) fully enveloped structure; membrane beneath the base and returned up the base edge, an applied membrane painted on the external face down to meet the base membrane, and a membrane applied to the internal face which directed any ingress of water to a cavity drain which expelled at the end of the retaining wall.

If you like and want to pm me your email I can send you a detail.

I had an added complication of having a couple of rooms in the basement and as such it was upgraded from solely a garage and that increased the spec.

I have been considering this a lot of late.

With Ulster Bank in the south and BOI in the north leaving a lot of our high streets, coupled with the large retail culls what will our towns and cities look like in the future.

When we do leave lockdown and move on from this pandemic our towns and cities will look significantly different than even a year ago.

What will be the future anchor tenants on a high street, is retail dead with hospitality and leisure to take over, how can we stop the ghost town vibe in the short term while towns pivot to the new industries?

Genuine request, can someone post an example of McClean's pro IRA posts. I am aware of the balaclava one which I took as a joke, albeit in poor taste and a bit stupid.

I don't think he has posted any Pro IRA material (other than the Balaclava post). He is certainly an Irish Republican and I think it's fair to say he has no love for the British Army but out and out IRA stuff I don't think so. The Balaclava post was certainly stupid. He's going to be a target for a certain soccer fan, that English nationalist and that comes hand in hand with his poppy stance unfortunately. He's in Stoke as well which is pretty much as English nationalist as you get. He certainly doesn't deserve the abuse he or his family gets.
I doubt there is anything specific. Does all this not stem from him posting something on social media along the lines of - 'why should I wear a poppy in support of British Soldiers when British Soldiers murdered unarmed citizens in my home town'.

Think he also mentioned the Wolfe Tones at some point.

Blame the victim.

Get ready for the schools to go back. The PR machine has started.

I find the tone of the argument generally disappointing from both sides in relation to the schools. Should we really need a PR machine to get children back to school?
