He was great. RIP. I remember as a young lad sitting in the bath of a Saturday evening with the telly in the sitting room turned up loud for the results.
No tin bath in the living room?

Our tin bath was used in the scullery - and even it didnt have a lock on the door.

Your bath had a door?

The wife says that.

RIP Albert Reynolds. Most underrated Taoiseach ever IMHO.

I agree with you there. RIP

Sorry to hear that. Hazy memories of him having to negotiate with some lunatic who was holed up in an Aer Lingus plane in Paris, list of demands made to Albert.....

He wanted to know the 3rd secret of Fatima.

I really enjoyed Gerry's humour. Coyle and him were great craic. Not having returned after so long off, we should have known something was up.

RIP

Always seemed statesmanlike, which is a lot more than can be said for any of the others in my lifetime.

Wasn't there similar scenario with Boris Yeltsin in Shannon Airport?

Aye, except Yelstin had about a litre of Vodka in him, and thought he knew the 3rd secret of Fatima.

RIP Taoiseach Reynolds. I think History will be kind to him.

Applesisapples

Sad to hear of Gerry's death, my late mother loved him, I never quite got it though. But undoubtedly others did. God Rest His Soul.
As for Albert, I think his shrewd business mind and aversion to failure delivered for the peace process. He could have delivered so much more for the Republic given more time in Government. God Rest His Soul.
