Quote from: imtommygunn on March 17, 2024, 07:03:59 PMKerry and Dublin are the only two with the depth who can pull themselves out of any hole they may find themselves in. The rest take it seriously enough. The likes of Tyrone and maybe Galway have got wake up calls in the league. Tyrone will be better for it but Galway need to keep players like comer and Walsh fit to be all the better for it. A final in it is no big deal though.
There are 8 teams in Div 1

Kerry and Dublin make 2
Tyrone and Galway "got wake up calls"
Roscommon and Monaghan didn't "take it seriously"
"the rest" = Mayo and Derry !

Teams getting beat doesn't mean they're not taking it seriously.

I think they have both realised that unless they get the finger out they are both going to be poor. Winning it doesn't really matter sf. It never has. Most teams take it seriously though some peak earlier than others.

What would have happened had o'toole scored or setup a goal whenever he hacked canavan and ended up being pulled retrospectively by the linesman?

Fair play to Monaghan. Some fight in them.

Looking like us against Wicklow to see who stays in division three. (Assuming it's head to head...)

Quote from: MC on March 15, 2024, 10:14:09 AMThat team that Harte was 'holding back' were beaten by Dublin in the semi-finals in 2017; beaten by Dublin in the final in 2018; and beaten by Kerry in the semi-final in 2019 - and after a Covid disrupted championship in 2020 won a final in 2021. I've no problem with a change in manager but do people really think Tyrone lost out on 3 AIs they would or should have won with a different manager? I hope Tyrone are 'held back' this year.
That's it... didn't beat Dublin, Kerry or Mayo in the championship since 2008.. the two lads came in and with Peter Donnelly, who had left previous set-up, beat Kerry and Mayo and Sam's yer man!

Mayo are a different beast in a final though. All the other games against Mayo were before the final.

How big a loss is McKenna to that team?

2 of the last 4 last year were from ulster. Neither would have been at the level to win it anyway so I think that's not bad for a disadvantaged championship.

Ah ok that would make more sense.

Well there's a spanner in the works with that one as there are more issues at the MOT centres.

Our u20s have not been performing at A level in their previous age groups so I think it's a bit silly to not enter into the B or C competition.

Also I think he's right. Tyrone should be getting better but it doesn't look like current management are getting them going in that direction. I was surprised they got another term.

All games with the exception of Aldergrove seemed to be right an competitive.

Ballymena in particular, getting off to a flyer. Think the bottom 6 will be a dog fight and a few may find themselves in it that wont have expected to be.

Big win for ballymena. They've probably got more county players than St John's too. (Or at least an equal amount) glenravel and st Brigids tight enough too. St endas have less county players now too so I would expect them to do better in the league.

Why I didn't celebrate - I thoght he was but we'll take it, ref was shocking the whole match.

It was a bit of a booting match at times. Saka, who does need to toughen up too I think, was getting manhandled a lot the whole game. One of the last plays of the game he'd the ball and the defender had his arms round his waist in a blatantly obvious foul and nothing.

Arsenal not hugely impressive here. Pepe still a dirty animal.
