No brainer, the footballers are on the rise and the hurlers are shite in AI terms.

Very true inf u go on last years form , but do u not think dinny will shape the boys up in the right frame with St Galls reaching the inter med AI final an if dunloy can put a shift in , that would make it 2 antrim hurling teams in a AI final in the same year , wat a boost for guys who might find their way onto the panal but most of all the kids coming through .
Great things lay ahead this yr for antrim county all round , Feeling it in mee bones Stew  ;D

I don't think it is seen as that , though i do think there is a great chance of histroy to be written in the books , all these years an i don't think an correct me on this if im wrong but im sure no club team has won 2 AI'S  in the same year at diffrent codes , It would be good to see that all them years in county level slugging it out , been know as the whipping boys that a club down a little lane in it's 100th years of proud histroy has a great chance of really going all the way an book itself into the GAA histroy books .
All them great teams in the free state , all that shite we have to read about in the sunday papers about the great teams , (ie Pat Spillane  I TALK OUT OUT OFF MY ASS ) ;D

Did Cork win the football and hurling all-ireland titles in the same year?? In the late 80's or something?? Not too many counties boast strong teams in both codes. Cork and Galway are the only 2 teams that are really capable of pulling of such a feat at the minute..?

Near enough. Cork won the football in 1989 and hurling in 1990 and Teddy McCarthy was indeed on both teams. Mighty player... he had some leap for the ball/sliothar.
Liam Curans also won All Ireland medals with Offaly hurlers in 1981 and the footballers in 1982. A good 'un too.  Agreed Cork and Galway only ones now though I'd more fancy Galway.

Yep that right Cork last team to do the double, Galway came close in 1998 winning the football, but losing the All Ireland Hurling final, I remember as Alan Kerins was the dual player on both and it was mentioned about Teddy McCarthy and his feats.

Wrong once again youbetterbelieve it! :P It was 2001 when they won the football and lost the hurling final. As far as I remember Kilkenny lost to Offaly in 1998.

Intermediate and Junior All Ireland Club competitions are a relatively new concept but the nearest I can find is St Finbarr's from Cork who I believe won the AI football in 1981 and were Munster champions in the hurling the same year (both at senior)...

I would love to be proved wrong, but I suspect that Dunloy may struggle.  Even if they manage to beat Portumna and reach the final (a huge task) Ballyhale Shamrocks will prove a tough nut to crack as well.  St. Galls have a real, genuine opportunity to lift an all-Ireland though...  Mind you, it'd be great if they both managed to get to the final!!

No..that's why I said the "nearest" to doing this...hard to compare as St Gall's are not a senior hurling team
