I have a view on why Sugrue left...Some players did inform him they were packing it in and he then decided to quit. I think Donie was one of them. A few other younger lads are travelling. All the signs are for bleak period ahead in afraid

Is he available to play next year or still playing LOI?
Packed in the soccer and is playing GAA in Cork

I'm pretty sure he didn't.  Wasn't he contracted to Cork city ? Enjoyed a decent spell with Waterford Utd and then moved to Cork city . Talented chap . Gary has retired from soccer and is transferred to a Gaa club in Cork.

Thought the game was decent. Aston is one I'd love to see in with the seniors.  With a bit of coaching he could be a good half forward his best position I think..... hard luck to Kileshin. Best wishes to Stephen Atride in his new career down under.

I stand corrected. It's not a rumour at all.. . Joe Higgins is Joseph's new manager with Dempsey as coach and trainer..a serious management team...https://www.laoistoday.ie/2019/10/11/dempsey-and-higgins-to-team-up-as-st-josephs-set-to-appoint-new-management-team/

Mick Dempsey set to be named Joesphs manager next year. Big appointment, will surely add a bit of steel thats missing
Due respect but it's silly season rumour time..My rumour on Mick is he has been approached by Croke Park to work with headquarters  as a national coaching coordinator.

Laois / Laois U20 Championship
October 06, 2019, 11:19:18 AM
Looking at the weekend first round results  I see some alarming results/outcomes..Graiguecullen  conceded...Porylaoise well beaten, Stradbally parish well beaten. It confirms my view that a shift from traditional football strongholds is happening...Is this because these traditional strongholds have or are not doing enough at ground level.Normal hurling strongholds are now coming to the fore in senior adult football. Ballyfinn @ Rosenallis are proving my view..

Sean's tenure at senior didn't work out but he did achieve wonderful results with the underage groups he had...in Micks case it was laois officialdom that caused the departure. He proved his pedigree since.  I'd safely say Quirke has his own crew sorted and Mick will change direction and do his own thing..My opinion.

Great news if true but I'll believe it when I see it. Mick may have other plans and I'm sure the queue to get him is pretty long. For those who weren't about or remembers his  previous role with laois. That didn't finish well.

Great excitement In the first game..was hugely impressed with portlaoise. That was the best fight back I've seen from them ever. They have style but they also have serious fight..and Bruno what more can be said about him.
.as for the ref enough said..18 minutes over time combined is a joke. He needed the help of maurice to know who he had previously booked..

Congrats to Kileshin, Ballyfin, Port and Portlaoise on reaching the semis. Wonderful to see new progressive teams in the shakeup and hopefully a few new faces will arise for the County.
Also Hard luck to Zach https://www.laoistoday.ie/2019/09/20/disappointment-for-tuohy-as-geelong-miss-out-on-grand-final-place/
Hopfully we'll be on the same flight home next week for the Laois semis.

Im out of the loop these days working away but i do keep in contact. Its disappointing to hear John Sugrue has gone. He had a something very good going on and for now to see it come to a complete halt is more disappointing. Hopefully someone of similar skills and distinction will be appointed. As a matter of interest is there a possibility that a few of "his" panel are not available next year. Im hearing that some players ( first team players) informed him that they are either retiring or taking a break abroad next year and that was the main reason he decided to step down. Maybe its only idle gossip. Only time will tell.
