Time to start thinking about the start of the real stuff. Monaghan winless in the McKenna but resting most of their key players. Don't think pre-season form will have much bearing on this game. For us this may be a must win game if we want to have a chance at staying up.

Shrewdness

This IS a must win game for us. Lose this one and it`s hard to see where enough points for survival will come from.

Main Street

Rest easy, we don't win games in Connacht, it's an evil place for Monaghan.
Unlike Tyrone, we are at a loss in sheep shagging environs.

Syferus

Wouldn't count on it being in Connacht. Was talking to lads in the know at the Mayo match and they're not sure the Hyde will be fit for purpose by the 31st. Hopefully the removal of the Mayo game gives it a fighting chance.

Beffs

When do Roscommon play Kerry? They only got back from their AI holiday last week, so they have shag all training under their belt. They could be good for a handy two points, if you catch them early on. They usually rest their big names until the later rounds too, which makes them an easier target for the first few rounds of games.

Rossfan

Our 2nd game is away to the kutehoors on 8th February.
I was hoping that they'd only be back from holiday on the 7th.
Hope we can keep the losing margin under 20 points.

Kerry aren't going to be beating anyone by 20 pts, not this early on. They put so little effort into the league, they often have their work cut out for them, to avoid relegation themselves.

Monaghan for ye first and their pre season form is piss poor and then to Kerry and their early season form is always poor.
Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .

I wouldnt read much into Monaghan's pre season form as they always experiment during the McKenna cup. The league on the other hand they have hit the ground running the last few years, last year they gave Tyrone a good beating on their home patch in round one.

Shrewdness

Captain Obvious , that was just larryin89 trying to stir it. Monaghan played hardly any of their top
players so far, and will present us with a huge  challenge. They are an established Division 1 team.

Banty said on rte today that McManus was very douthfull for Monaghan next Sunday. Has anyone heard anything on this, our lineout will be very interesting next Sunday, is would be a good man that would guess the team, Harney will play a part at some stage and will be a huge addition.

Would they not play it in Kiltoom if HP isn't ready?
Hasta la victoria siempre

Rossfan

There's a 2,500 limit on Kiltoom it seems.
It's either Carrick if available or cede advantage to Clones if Kiltoom is too small for a D1 game.

Shrewdness

If Hyde Park is hanging in the balance, it's prospects won't be helped by the weather forecast for Connacht. Very wet weather tonight and tomorrow......We're a Division 1 team with a third world pitch. Having to play it in Clones would be an absolute shambles.
