General discussion / Re: Ulster Workers Strike 2024

Unions representing healthcare workers in Northern Ireland are to ballot their members on a pay deal.
The proposed settlement would see the restoration of pay parity with England, and includes an uplift of 5% and a one-off payment of £1,505.

Quote from: lurganblue on February 26, 2024, 09:19:09 AMIt will be interesting to hear what has been offered to the rail and bus workers.  I suspect we will hear that soon, with the 3 day strike now suspended.

5% and £1500 lump sum apparently, that NICS offer mentioned above is not legit apparently.

Health workers being balloted on 5% and £1500 lump sum
What makes you say that? The picture I was sent looked legit.

I asked a union member this morning and he said he had also seen it but has been advised there is no offer on the table yet. We will probably know soon enough

New Translink offer on the table following talks yesterday. Any news on the percentage figures?

Quote from: giveherlong on January 30, 2024, 09:57:17 PMCar tax runs out on 31 Jan and car is out of MOT. Can't get an appointment until March at the earliest. Have this booked. Been on every morning on nidirect trying to get a cancellation but nothing. Is there anyway around this? No doubt if caught by a tax camera I'm in bother

Was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago. Just book a test for whatever date comes up, then look to reschedule. When in the reschedule section, keep refreshing the page until a more reasonable date pops up. Might take a fair few refreshes, but something will come up for you.

It's not even just getting "caught", as far as I know you will automatically get a fine in the post if your tax ends and no MOT.

Happened to me a couple of years ago, now mine had elapsed by over a month and had to f**k about with a retest so took a lot longer than I thought to pass the MOT & maybe you get a bit of grace

FS. Forgot about that. So you get a fine if car isn't taxed by time tax expires and you haven't SORN'd? No chance I'll get sorted by Thursday so might be best to SORN it?

Quote from: trueblue1234 on September 29, 2023, 11:21:45 PMGreat result and performance tonight from Drumragh. One of the best games we've had this year. Setting up a nice local Derby with Fintona. Few lads getting back to fitness at the right time. Hard to call the final now. Very much a 50/50.

It has been a good junior championship so far. Tight finishes in most games (bar few trimmings first round). Quality fairly good to date 👍

You'd have to think that the new setup will feel like a step down for the Glen players when they rejoin the panel going from O'Rourke/Porter to Devlin and Harte.

What way did G Devlin finish up with Slaughtneil? Did he win a championship and was given the road then?

I see Cahair O Kane tweeting that Tyrone is the only county in the Country that has knockout on the club championship this year

Knockout is the only way.

The only way to run a club championship
Long may it continue

Tyrone are relying on Canavan and McCurry a lot. But how many teams have players like them to rely on? And Kerry, how good would they be without Clifford?
Serious question, if we got most things right further back, could the 2 Canavans + McCurry (fit) take us to an All Ireland semi final or Final? I wouldn't bet against it

Any clubs have sprinkler system?
Seen a few putting water on with slurry tankers but you would need to be going out every day with several tanker loads to make any difference

Was at an U8 camogie Go Games blitz over the weekend
Was all a ground based game with no ball lifted or struck from hand except a few puck outs
At what age do players start taking the ball to hand in the blitzes

Pairc Esler pitch looks more like a beach than the marshes
Any inter county grounds use sprinklers?

Simple solution, if players are involved book the weddings for a Saturday during summer
Even if you are playing on a Saturday you'll be at the hotel in time for the good part
Thursday weddings don't give much consideration to guests anyway!

Get each club to inspect the pubs in their area.

Just looking at the pricing on the GAA GO website
e79 for season pass and then e150 for a club season pass and e300 for commercial/bar
What GAA club or pub are going to be paying the extra?
It's hardly like the GAA have inspections like Sky used to do
