From the Bunker

Between 1955 and 1981 Mayo won only 2 connacht senior provincial titles, they went the whole of the 70's without a title.

Despite Cavan holding 39 Ulster senior titles they have only won one title since 1969.

Despite 30 AI titles, Kilkenny will be going next year for only their second three in a row AI's ther last one was in 1911/12/13.

Anybody else have useless trivia (pub talk) to share?

Did that same Derry minor team run Kilkenny close in the U21's a year or two later, the match being played up in Ballinascreen in a magmanimous gesture by Kilkenny (DJ played I think)?

Between 1915 and 1955 Cavan never went more than 2 years without winning an Ulster Senior title, achieving Five 3 in a rows, Three 4 in a rows, Three 5 in a rows, and Two 7 in a rows along the way.  No small feat!

Tony Scullion was a late developer and never played minor football for Derry. He was asked into the U-21 team in his last year. The side went on to win the U-21 1983 Ulster Championship and went on to be runners up to Mayo in the All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship after a replay.

Scullion was also a keen hurler for both Ballinascreen and Derry. He played in five Derry Senior Hurling Championship finals and was man of the match in the 1989 final, despite never winning a final. He played for the Derry hurling team between 1983 and 1991.

He was part of the Derry side which were runners up to Down in the 1988 All-Ireland B final.

In 1996 I saw some match somewhere that had some boy playing that played for the same team the following week in another match against a different team.

A low scoring affair but didnt an All Ireland final finish 05-03 in the 1930s?

Louth Exile

In 1922, the 'Civil War' Connaught hurling final between Galway and Roscommon ended in acrimony after Pa Weedy of the tribemen blew his goalie up with a crudely made device shaped like a 'Good Luck Today' card... although the match resumed after the netminder was swept from the pitch, it left a sour taste

In which Dublin lost ..... match was abandoned at half time because there were so many bandwagon "winter" supporters that the ice cracked  ;D
