I think everything down to 3/1 (at least) should be backed e/w. At a quarter the odds, you'll get 87% of your stake back if your horse places.

If you're a good judge of a horse, you should back enough winners at those kind of prices to make a profit. It's all about minimising your losses. There's a reason the bookies despise e/w punters.
