The London Senior football final is being played Saturday 9 December.   Tara play St Brendans.

I guess its because of Londons extended All Ireland campaign that this game is down for decision on the '9th of DECEMBER' :o :-\

never kickt a ball

Now now Carmen behave yourself. What are you on???

jaysus, has any county managed to finish there county championship before november?

The situation is out of control and something has to be done. I think any club or county that goes through the DRA should suffer hefty penalties if their appeals are not successful. That might deter so many from going straight to the DRA for every lineball wrongly given against their team. It really has become farsical the way competitions are held up until the depths of winter due to these appeals.

It seems to be the way things are going Charlie. Mind you sometimes appeals to the DRA are justified to take on the biased, discriminatory decision that people can be guilty of on occasions.

Where cases are justified and successful that's ok. Every team has a right to fair play.

It's those cases where an obscure loophole is sought to defend the undefensible that should be rooted out with the imposition of increased penalties should the appeal be unsuccessful. Teams must be deterred from running to the DRA for every decision that goes against them.

Example: Mattie Forde stamps on yer Offaly man's head last year and is caught on camera. Wexford appeals but are unsuccessful so Mattie is suspended for the Fermanagh game. In the interim however, due to the length of the appeals process, he gets to line out against Monaghan and put us out of the Championship. Where is the justice there? Wexford should not have had the right to appeal that one. It was clear to everyone what he did.

I'm not bitter or dredging up a grievance with regards to this example. It's just the first example that springs to mind and a good case in point.

Couldn't agree more, however if one team sees that they can get away with it by appealing to the DRA than others will follow suit. Teams will do whatever it takes to stay in championship, if there was a penalty for unsuccessful appeals it might well stop every Tom Dick and Sally running to them.

Can't argue with either of you Charlie and Stephenite. We better watch ourselves though. The London people are tuning in to find out about their Championship and they find us debating the pros and cons of the DRA and carmen slagging them off. COUGH! Who are the favourites? Tara or St Brendans?

charlie linkbox

Interesting.

And yet clubs/counties still aren't deterred. ???

Tara would be favourites. Damien Healy (Westmeath) Paul and Senan Hehir (ex Clare), Conor Beirne (ex Roscommon) and Chris Donnellan (Mike's brother) all playing for them. Stuart McKenzie Smith out injured. Also lost Paul McDermott (Letrim) and Damien McKenna (Monaghan) because of hold up in Championship - both opted to play at home. Managed by former Westmeath under-age All Ireland winner Martin Murtagh.
St Brendans don't really have any big names in their panel. Best players they have are Paul Malone(Louth), Billy Molloy (Wexford), Adrian Brett (Sligo), Gary Cullen (Wicklow), Fergal Greenan (Monaghan) and Paul Tierney (Tyrone), but no real "household" names.
SFC in London has been a real chore this eyar. Two major hold ups and everyone has sort of lost interest. Winners play Munster Champs in January in Ruislip.
