GAA Discussion / Best score ever?
November 14, 2023, 12:00:14 AM
Beggan's point from play; crucial time of the game, 65 yds out, cleared the bar by yds. I've never seen a sweeter strike.
Don't think there was any breeze behind him.

GAA Discussion / Defensive football
July 20, 2020, 04:54:05 PM
This is depressing. Was talking to a ref, who has officiated at two recent games. As no spectators allowed, depending on his reports. Both were low-scoring, and both, he says, had the same old defensive tactics, 15 men behind the ball, short, uncontested kick-outs, endless hand-passing around the 45 meter line. So despite all the rule changes designed to disincentivise the defensive game the coaches haven't changed.
Time for something more dramatic? Maybe a move to 13-a-side, (which would also allow a more level playing field for smaller clubs/counties)

GAA Discussion / Similar colours

Was at a Down championship tonight between Bryansford and Castlewellan. Both teams had similar colours; black shorts, green shirts, the only difference the Ford's gold hoop, mimicked by Castlewellan's sponsor in white on the front of the jersey. Don't know if it was difficult for the players in the heat of a game, but it showed no consideration for elderly or visually impaired spectators.
Is there a GAA policy on this? If not there should be
