GAA Discussion / Re: AIQF Armagh v Monaghan

It's getting controversial now.

Wouldn't rule out penalties. Armagh should've taken one of those goal chances.

QuoteUnfortunately I expect Dublin to easily account for our bruised and battered warriors . Last 20 mins of this game I really fear could be wild scoring as our bucks completely run out of gas .

We won the league , had a very enjoyable win down in Killarney, knocked Galway out . Overall it's been a 7/10 year for their first year as a management team . Croker the weekend is truly bonus territory imo , the one week turnaround will be the killer for a team that has not looked to have great stamina all year anyway ie last periods of several games from the league right through the championship.

Can't argue with much of that but the single bright thing that gives us hope is that in latter years when Dublin were at their peak it would be a case of "how do you stop the Dubs?", not as much of that going on these days. Might be close enough but I'd say the 5 day turnaround excluding travel will catch us alright.

ROD was born to run, lets leave it at that. It's time our lads got some of the old "nastiness", as Tomas O'Shea would call it, back. We were too soft up until now, but that was likely due to the nature of the fixtures more than anything.

Quotethought Mayo a tad fortunate to get over the line,

100% if Tierney (I think) got the goal, (great save again by Reape) then we were dust again. We got Galway at a great time (unfortunate for them to be fair) and even at that their star performers didn't perform.

We have loads of improvement needed to win next weekend, no matter how the draw goes.

At some stage in the match, not sure when, McDaid did something similar to AOS, exact same as the ROD incident, hopefully someone can dig that one out to even up things. In any case Putting that shite up
On Twitter is childish, always looks worse in slow motion, it was handbags

QuoteWhat's the story with Sean Kelly, he looked to be in a bad way in the Armagh game. If he does play, surely Mayo would try and target him by putting OShea in ff, and actually kick a few balls into him, height wise, surely it's a bit of a mismatch.

Our lads are brainwashed by our management army into doing the opposite, the "stats" must say that's too risky.

It's ironic that we played some of our best football earlier in the year, v Tyrone is a good example, it's likely the lads were vying for places and playing with freedom, passion and commitment over tactics.

I'm hoping/praying the early season version of us shows up, it's the hope that kills us in Mayo, always has and nothing appears to change.

If the sight of that maroon jersey can't get us off our arses on Sunday then the future is bleak.

Enough about Galway, when will our lads be named?

Larry, if that Loftus carry on is the brainchild of Rochford then I can see him picked at 6 but not playing there and Coen (if fit) moving back.

McBrien, Flynn and O'Donoghoe

They were our only soldiers in the battle. The rest of them were an embarrassment including McStay and his army of advisors.

There's a match on Sunday  :)

QuoteMade the trip down to mchale yesterday, I rarely miss anyway home and away that's just the way it is with me , personal choice as I enjoy it but in all my years following Mayo, yesterday was the first day I remember feeling numb and disinterested, even up in the clubhouse there was nothing , no atmosphere. There's an aerial view pic of 1998 game v Galway in the clubhouse, i looked at it yesterday and a thought ran through my head , look at the crowd , remembering the days of old when mchale was bursting at the seams with people and noise . I've never been in the camp of been in favour of a return to the one chance salon championship but I have to admit yesterday I started to question my theory.

Your weren't alone in thinking that Larry, most people in the crowd were bored.

If Louth think putting all 15 players inside the 45 for the whole match is progress rather than surrender then good luck to them. It's embarrassing.

Quoteshould be neutral province too for the final round of games so armagh v galway can only be played in leinster or Munster  Munster probably too far so id play that game in Parnell park or nolan park or cusack park westmeath.

Fully agreed, or counties should be allowed to toss for the province. It'll be Limerick or Ennis for Mayo v Cork, instead of Nowlan park.

Sad to see a proud footballing county set up as they did yesterday. After 5 minutes there was only going to be 1 winner. Interesting to hear from the Louth posters on here.

The irony was at the end when Louth were 5 down did ye wake up and play football and stopped the puke. Ye done us a right favour yesterday anyhow, thanks.

QuoteOut of interest what was your thoughts on the recent Ulster final?  I'd agree with this recent discussion with Michael Foley,Enda McGinley skip to 55.55.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tb9jyjSh6hI

Ourselves and Dublin are to blame, everyone want's a repeat of our great games all the time. Yer man Foley needs to buy a shed or make some attic space for himself.
