Exhibit A - John Troy.
He should have copyrighted the term 'wristy hurler'.

An amazingly skilful hurler from the pre Cody era. Which was much more interesting. Offaly had some great players back in the day.

Another reminder of how much hurling has evolved into a collision sport.

That offaly team were superb. They would have had complete dominance if they had had the type of training/application as the Clare team of that time.

Exhibit B. Gerry McInerneys white boots. That was the man that brought glamour to the championship!!
Lee Harvey Oswald , your country needs you

Offaly v Cork in 2000 is the best game of hurling I've ever seen live

waterfordlad

Brilliant video. Hurling has changed a lot in last 15 years to a more physical, possession based game so good to see a real hurling artist in action who had the skills and the brain. A real wristy hurler as Cyril Farrell would say.

Ironically a game Troy missed out on due to being exiled from the panel for a couple of weeks.

Troy lost the 1995 AI final for Offaly

The goalie Hughes did, but I know what you mean. John always had a bit of a rebellious streak in him.

One memory I have of him was in 1998 I think when Offaly derailed Wexford going for 3 in a row in Leinster. The goal he scored at the death kinda robbed Wexford. I was behind the goal he scored into (Canal I think) and very few people knew what had happened. The ball broke outside the square and he had it whipped to the net out of nothing.

Troy had unreal wrists. I've never forgiven him for breaking a hurl off my leg in an U14 final v Lusmagh when I was only 12!
