I think this could be a game too far for St Mary's but hope I'm wrong. Unbelievable achievement for them to get to 2 Sigerson Finals in 3 years

UCD   weren't too shabby either.  St Mary's pick from 130 max and offer no packages to attract students   other than career in teaching    where you work 190 days a year !!!!

Are there not 1 or 2 of the St mary's squad who would already be qualified teachers but would be doing part time masters enabling them to play sigerson? Maybe not the same category as other 'courses' offered to some top players at other universities. Personally think university football should be open to undergrads only. This would avoid the likes of 25/26 year old established county players who have been enrolled in some random course at a tech somewhere that is formally linked to a university from competing against 19-22 year olds in a university competition.

Would agree with this. It's a bit like DCU taking the best players from St.Pats, throwing money at them to play for DCU as their governing college and leaving the rest to play for St.Pats! So wrong on many levels.
Marys are a lesson to all. Get a small group of decent players who want to play and you'll not be far away.

St.Mary's have better players than some on here think. They have a couple of forwards from my own county who would be very good at this level. Burns and Devlin solid in midfield and Rafferty plus the Armagh contingent solid at the back. They are rightly underdogs but to make them out as a side of average players would be wrong. That said, their strength is probably that they are all hardworking and know exactly how they play, hard to break down and strong on the counter.
