Good job there was no internet or social media back in late 89 as United languished in the bottom half of the table after 3 years of Fergie.

I remember banners at United games back then demanding Fergie be sacked. Mark Robins goal v Notts Forest in the Cup I think it was basically saved him.

He's an upper middle class lad that went to Ard Scoil Ris. Says some good stuff but I think a lot of it may be to propagate the image of blind boy.

Will the election results give rise to more outrages by white male anglo saxon protestant gun nuts?

I don't think the election results were that comprehensive were they? I was watching CNN as the results were coming in and the consensus was that this was a good night for the Dems in the House of Reps, but a bad night in the Senate. GOP won a bigger majority in the Senate. They also won most of the Governor elections I think?

It's good to have a counter balance in Congress, but I don't think this constitutes a 'Blue Wave'

According to media reports of the time, Liam Miller was on £42,000 a year at Celtic, and was approaching the end of his contract. Celtic were OFFERING him £12k a week, but Man United went to £25k.

And their other mate Farage is now  ‘actively being investigated by the FBI’

How can the FBI be investigating someone in the UK? Or has he dealings in the US?

George Hannigan the Tipp footballer also retired recently. A great servant. Always good with his time for the young lads as well. Best of luck George.

Each to their own I suppose. I love them, and I'll go to all of them I hope.

GAA Discussion / Re: Most Geographically Isolated Club in Ireland
« on: October 25, 2018, 12:36:48 PM »
It's isolated obviously but 30-40 mins from relatively functioning towns in Killybegs & Ardara, who aren't far from big towns themselves. You'd spend that in the boat getting out to the club on the Aran Islands. Valentia island obviously. Achill island would be isolated enough too. Letterfrack maybe on the mainland

Valentia wouldn't be that isolated in that there's a bridge over to the club in Portmagee, and a lot of the year there's a ferry over to Renard, so you're not really that far away from any of the clubs in South Kerry.

Never a penalty’

Shocking decision.  Poor dive from Sadio too. Even took a little look lying on the ground.

Liverpool look like they might be getting their va va voom back though.

Interesting tidbit from the Tipperary County Final on Sunday. John O'Keefe captained Clonoulty Rossmore, and received the Dan Breen Cup. In the war of Independence, John's home place was a safe house for republicans on the run, and Dan Breen himself actually stayed there. Nice to bring the cup home to the same place the man himself once stayed.

What’s he worth then know it all?.

if Amari Cooper is 'worth' a first rounder, Peterson is surely worth at least one first rounder plus something else. This league is starved of cover corners. I actually agree with you that he's not as brilliant as made out, but he is up there with the better corners in the league as Syf points out.

I'd say they'll look for 2 1s, and end up with a 1 and a 3.

Patrick Peterson probably on his way out of the Cardinals as well.

What's his contract situation like?
There are quite a few 'contenders' that are really struggling in the secondary this season, so you would think that would play to the Cardinals advantage in terms of compensation they can recoup.

2 years left.  I think they are looking for two first rounders. If they get that, they'll be happy.

‎Tickets at €25 for Sunday's Cork hurling final a little pricey?

€20 is the baseline price for county finals.  But U16s are free, which is great. €25 seems pricey alright, but I suppose the Pairc won't pay for itself otherwise.
