Mary Lou now calling for Ireland to opt out of EU Migration Pact. The winds are blowing to the right and SF want their own far right vote back. Farage did always like them.

Knowing the FAI, the mystery new manager could be A.N. Other. Would not put it past the blazers to pretend they had someone lined up and then if John O'Shea doesn't F up too much (the bar was low, very low), come out with his promising performance in the two matches has led them to change their mind.

Most importantly, massive gobshite. I've always thought of him as the southern, Fenian Jim Allister. Sees the 'ra everywhere he looks.

Ahh, voters rejected him then a 'job for the boys' case.

Never liked him. But he was one of the leading voices - if not the mastermind - of the No campaign on the changes to the referendum. There's a significant base that would be aligned with his views on many issues.

He opted for the North so he could stay in Liverpool's Academy. If he declared for the Republic he'd have to leave under Brexit rules.

I doubt that Brexit rule would have applied to him, as it didn't to Trent Kone Doherty who is still U.18, from Derry, and has opted for FAIreland.

Quote from: Rossfan on March 22, 2024, 06:14:59 PMI think ye'll find that Sinn Féin were unable to form a Government in 2020.

Indeed because the other parties refused to accept the will of majority of people.

The majority of people voted for the parties in the government.

The largest party was frozen out by the status quo. Don't believe it ever happened before and it was 2 fingers to the electorate. As the man above said, the two of them should merge if that's the game they want to play. Ironically it's a hatred and fear of northern nationalists that is the driver so interesting that you find yourself defending it.

Of course  it did. Fianna Fáil were usually the largest party with over 40% of vote when kept out by FG/Labour coalitions. In 1982 FF had 47% of the vote and were kept out. SF in contrast got 24% of vote.

Quote from: Rossfan on March 21, 2024, 11:31:26 AMSame oul story...hit the small Counties.

Wise up and get the blinkers off. He  changed his body posture to deliberately stamp on his opponent. Very lucky to only get a 2 match ban.
Take your oil and move on.

Not even a two match ban - he only got a one match ban.

Meanwhile the "positive" news on Foley is that he won't miss the entire season but will be out for a good stretch.

"It's unlikely he'll take any part in the Munster Championship this year but after that, we'd be hopeful enough that he'll see some action," said Kerry selector Diarmuid Murphy.

That's at least 3 games he will miss for Kerry (and possibly more)

Yet another in the long list of GAA "justice" cases where the guilty person serves less time than the innocent party.

It's rare (if ever) you'd hear of a stamp put anyone out for that long. Shows you how much force was in it.

The injury did not happen from the stamp. It happened when he was jumping for a ball afterwards with Nial Daly and landed awkwardly. Perhaps the stamp had weakened foot, but so much reporting - and posts on this board- act like the injury happened  then. He was actually treated for a head injury in the goalmouth incident as he took a bad fall trying to prevent the goal. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Whatever about his many other faults, Varadkar did well on Brexit and Brian Feeney (not typically a fan of Leo) got it right in his Irish News column. There was no votes really in the 26 for that and many don't realise the consequences if the Unionists and Tories got their way. He is of course well hated by most Unionists and British right for the part he played in essentially keeping North in the Single Market. The North not in the SM would have been disastrous for the island in many ways, particularly the agri-food sector.

He still got a ban. There's intentional stamps from the more illustrious counties that went unpunished nor had the same kind of media pile on. Perhaps a few more retroactive bans are in order.

Dominic Behan of course was not too happy with Dylan for using the melody of The Patriot Game for With God on Our Side. I think Dylan heard The Clancy brothers singing it in The White Horse Tavern in New York City and thought it was a traditional air. Dylan was a big fan of The Clancy Brothers and described Liam (RIP) as the best folk singer in the world.

Kate appears to have done more chopping off of arms and hands than King Henry VIII did to heads of his wives.
