General discussion / The boy who cried wolf
April 03, 2010, 11:21:15 PM

Arsenal and Arsene "cry me a river" have officially ruined the premiership.

I am sick to the hole of arsenal drama queens rolling about at the merest hint of an actual tackle in a game of football.
f**k me. It's football for f**k's sake.

Rosicki today was a disgrace. rolling about like a suffocating fish. we all know there's nothing wrong with someone who reacts like that to a tackle but who can blame a ref given arsenal's unfortunate recent history.
That arsenal feel comfortable exploiting that recent misfortune and make a leg breaking drama out of every tackle is a poor reflection on that club and their melodramatic manager.

Recent anti physicality trends are unfortunate but arsenal's complete contempt for physical contact is ridiculous.

The self professed aristocrats think arsenal play perfect football, but in realty, If arsenal manage to steal the league title by some miricle, it'll be a hammer blow to football.

GAA Discussion / Wexford Vs Armagh - Feb 1st
January 20, 2009, 12:23:45 PM

Been a bit out of the loop of late but second hand info is plenty to go on to speculate on an internet forum in terms of who might make teams....

A fast start to the year, it would seem to me, could be vital for armagh and peter McDonnell. anything other than that could mean a poor atmosphere building in the county and growing discontent. there are already a lot of grumblings. It seem there are alot of "established" players who have not featured in the McKenna cup so we can only assume they will be available for the league? i hear McGrane will not feature early on anyway. theoretically....

Rodgers

Moriarty
Toner
Donaghy

McKeever
O'Rourke
Donnelly

Lavery
Vernon

O'Rourke
Mallon
Courtney/Toal

O'Rourke/Forker/Henderson
Clarke
McDonnell

happy enough with the look of that

I propose that there should be a sin bin for all posters with more than 10 posts stoopid enough to respond to Fearon's threads.

I'm more than happy that these games exist and that physiclly challenged people have a competitive sporting outlet in general. However, i have no interest in the paralympics whatsoever nor its participants. i have canvassed around me over the weekend and i haven't met a single person of a different opinion. with that in mind, why is there such large press coverage?

GAA Discussion / Kernan the new Ulster Manager
August 30, 2008, 05:28:06 PM

http://ulster.gaa.ie/2008/08/29/joe-kernan-announced-as-ulster-manager/

At last nights Comhairle Uladh CCC meeting, the Provincial management teams were discussed.
Joe Kernan was appointed as the Manager of the Ulster Football team, following on from the extremely successful term of Brian McEniff.
Joe has immense experience where he led his club, Crossmaglen Rangers and his county, Armagh to All Ireland titles.  Joe also represented Ulster in his playing days.

The Ulster Hurling Management team of Dominic McKinley and Terence McNaughton were also re-appointed at last nights meeting.

It's been suggested that Mickey Harte, Dooher et al decided to go the back door route this year.
For the life of me i can't understand why they bothered digging so deep to take down to extra time if they did.

Mickey Whelan?
Gerry McEntee?
Joe Kernan?
Tommy Lyons?

The defender.

one coming together with an opponent and its a black book. any sort of physical or mistimed challenge and its the yellow card. both meticulously applied without exception by these guys masquerading as referees.

All the while, forwards and midfielders can persitently pull jersies, rugby tackle, push in the back and generally break up or stop play with a foul several times before the ref bothers with the black card.

none of this covers the conor mortimer type diving which is aimed soley at accumulating bookings, whileis own off the ball fouling goes unpunished.

The Rugby Football Union are co-operating with police in Auckland after allegations were made against four players.

Although full details of the allegation have not been confirmed, it occurred in a private room at the team's hotel - the Hilton in Auckland - in the early hours of Sunday morning after England's 37-20 defeat to New Zealand.

In a brief statement, the RFU said: "The England rugby team has been informed by Auckland Police that an allegation has been made against four members of the England playing squad.

"Whilst no formal complaint has been made we are co-operating with the police and their enquiries.

"In the circumstances we are unable to make any further comment."

Rob Andrew, the RFU elite rugby director, added: "The players concerned have the complete support of all the players and the management."

Auckland police have refused to reveal the details of the allegations or confirm the identity of the players - however a full investigation is under way.

A statement from Auckland police read: "Auckland City CIB is investigating an allegation involving up to four members of the England rugby team.

"The incident being investigated is alleged to have occurred early on Sunday, June 15, in a private room.

"Whilst an allegation was brought to the attention of police on Sunday evening, no formal complaint has been received.

"Investigating officers are receiving the appropriate level of co-operation from the England rugby team management."

The England squad has since moved to Christchurch to prepare for the second Test.

Given the Ulster council's recent initiative of using quality entertainment (eg Malachai Cush) for pre game and half time entertainment, is it time for a new approach to the build up to the games?

GAA Discussion / Armagh Vs Dorty Dubs
March 18, 2008, 10:50:11 AM

Sunday 30th March in Crossmaglen @ 2.30pm

Intriguing game now. Armagh finally found the form that they were promising in the earlier games and about time too. From an orchard point of view we finish with Dublin meath and cork, which is ideal in buidling for the champo (threw that in for the dubs). another competitve game after that, potentially against monaghan would be even better but there's a lot of ifs before that can happen.

i haven't been keeping that big of an eye on the dubs but saw the cavan game on tv and wasn't overly impessed. my thoughts on the dubs haven't changed in recent years... a very mobile and dangerous forward unit but extremely susceptible at the back. armagh's achilles heel has been the full back line this year so if they can tighten that up a fair bit then they can really progress.

Armagh to sneak the win.

Now obviously i didn't have the opportunity to sit through all of the evidence (was there any?) but from what i've read, anything pointing the finger at o'reilly was purely circumstantial and tenuous.

The prosecuton's case seems to have centred around his mobile phone being placed in the area of the home on the moring of the murder? Can this really be a soound basis on which to convict a man of murder?
