Hand Pass Goal, is it legal?

Bensars

This has to be a wind up.

No its not legal

High Catch

No!!

Unless somebody touches it before it crosses the line.

Main Street

Not winding up.
Would Fermanagh's goal against Monaghan not be regarded as an obvious hand pass goal.
And was it Kerry or Dublin in the League 1 or 2 final,  obvious attempt to score a hand pass goal but ball hit the crossbar?

There is a difference between punching/slapping the ball and handpassing the ball.

Exactly, if a ball is passed by one player (or comes of the woodwork)  then another player can slap or punch the ball into the net. He can't handpass into the goal while carrying the ball

McBarron punched a rebound to the net and in the Dubs game Keaney punched a pass from Vaughan.

Square Ball

if yor are carrying the ball and hand pass it in it wont count, that was a slap into the net from a pass which is allowed. I have seen people trying to hand pass it over the bar but falling in the net, terrible that!!!!!
Hospitals are not equipped to treat stupid

I think they slapped the ball into the net which should have been the butt of my question.

I had thought that you could only score with the more manly closed fist.

Thanks Hardy

Rule 1.2 is kind of confusing. Do they mean while the player or the ball is on the ground?

The bits in bold suggest that if a player falls to the ground while in possession, he can fist or palm the ball directly to the net! That's a new one for me - I find it hard to believe...

Main Street

As long as the player retains possession of the ball whilst on the ground.

That sounds okay to me. Though I can't remember a player scoring while sitting on his backside.

Jaysus Main Street, you're reallly struggling with that result   ;)

If a player falls and still has the ball in possession when he hits the ground, then he can touch it on the ground, to strike it away. This seems just like clarification in a scoring position, which admittedly isn't too likely. I presume its to avoid having to harshly give a free against a player who falls with the ball in his hands, for touching it on the ground.

haranguerer

The hound; he couldnt fist it when on the ground in the normal fashion - it refers to striking it with the fist along the ground, i.e rolling it away

Homer

Pardon the pun but ye are are picking it up wrong lads.

The exception is there to cover a situation where a player is felled while in possession of the ball and while hitting the floor he releases the ball on to the ground. The player is still deemed to be in possession of the ball and is allowed to punch or palm the ball away even though it is on the ground.

Not only felled while in possession.
The exception says that the player falls to the ground or is struck to the ground.
A player can fall without being tackled.
