Shameful is not a strong enough word.

It really annoys me our government ministers are so quick to muddy the waters on any debate involving SF by dragging the troubles and IRA into it, but completely ball-less on this from day one to this day.

A no warning bomb, in rush hour, looking for maximum footfall on innocent civilians, outside stores that sells school uniforms and such, in our capital city. Any other country the outrage would be seismic and it would be investigated to the ends of the earth. A lot of our leaders have a nerve to call themselves Irishmen or women.

Paudi McGrogan - ACL, Season over.
Niall Loughlin got an opp this week, season over?
Eoin McEvoy out with hamstring injury.
Conor Doc out
Murphy not back on 26 yet, still injured.
Chrissy & Rogers were doubtful, but looks like they will play.
A few other rumours but nothing confirmed.

Matthew Downey, Jack Cassidy, Conleith McGuckain all left the panel in recent weeks.

After league Dan Higgins, Callum & Enda Downey, Conor McGrogan, Oisin McWIlliams & Ben McCarron were all cut off panel - before team holiday to Portugal.

2 u20's called up since their defeat. Ruairi Forbes & McDermott - Both straight onto the panel for tomorrows game.

That seems to be the lay of the land at the minute. Derry's panel getting thinner, after looking like t was bulking up earlier in the season. Another injury or 2 would seriously derail us, especially if it's to the likes of Rogers who is carrying a hamstring injury at the minute.

From the League Final panel where we were all getting optimistic about Derry's panel finally looking strong we will be missing 7 of the 26.
4 Starters - McEvoy, Doherty, McGrogan, Loughlin
3 Subs - Matthew Downey, Conleith McGuckain, Cormac Murphy.

Only division 1 or division 2 also?
Division 1.
Complaints coming in about Eglish and Donaghmore being starred fixtures despite them having no county men anymore as McGleenan, Cush and Quinn have left the panel. Killyclogher also might become an issue if some of their U20s are called up after Sunday's final.

Other than maybe with the goalkeeper situation, I really don't see the benefits of calling in any u20s at this stage of the senior season. They done the same with the 2022 winning team when they called a few up and only in pure desperation against Armagh that year, Canavan and McGleenan got a few minutes.

Not the first time players have left the panel (I hear it is a total of 6) but the first time we have had a delay and rejig of the fixtures - setting a bad example.

This will open a can of worms now every time a team feels aggrieved

This event of players leaving county has been a regular occurrence over the years - loads of players have left after the fixtures were released

What happens now if a player leaves the county squad in a fortnight's time?

Oisin O'Kane Loughmacrory. Although I would say the U20 keeper will join with the squad after Sunday

Down 2-10 Mayo 0-15

Thank god for that. Don't know what the point of this competition is?

U20 is development, grade the more matches the better for players. And will be B and C grade competitions in the All Ireland series at U17/minor this year.
The whole tiered championship adds an unnecessary amount of extra more or less meaningless games into an already bloated calendar.

October I believe U20s panels commence training and for all the training in the world the players themselves wants more games.
Ulster counties went to the Ulster council wanting less games at Minor and U20 and Ulster council went to national council who came back with more games, everything had to have a round robbing system and tiers. Make of that what you will. Dilutes the competitions, ruins crowd numbers and takes away from Club Scene as well.

Quote from: Goals_Will_Come on February 09, 2024, 12:13:09 PMAn Ulster University side backboned by Tyrone players have qualified for the Sigerson Cup final with a 1-13 to 0-11 victory over Maynooth tonight. Darragh and Ruairi Canavan, Ciaran Daly, Conor Cush, Peter Og McCartan, Oisin McCann and Steve Donaghy started for Ulster University while Dara Curran, Adam Donaghy, Eoin Montgomery, James Quinn, Harry Morgan and second-half sub Danny Fullerton were named on the bench.

Oisin McCann for me stood out. Surely worth a go on the County panel, has the physical size and is full of talent. If he got a run with the county I think he would turn into a top player.
I remain unconvinced by Conor Cush, I am not sure if he is cut out for the top level.
Best thing for Conor Cush would be to release him back and let him have a full season with Donaghmore. Was fast tracked too soon after the 2022 U20 win, has done him no favours longer term. Good season with his club would surely help.
Nathan McCarron another who would probably benefit from being released back to his club, two games this year and hooked at half time in both. Wouldn't be good for confidence.
Can now add Lorcan Quinn and Conor Cush to the list of players who have left the County Panel.
