Quote from: Wildweasel74 on July 15, 2025, 02:55:09 PMI always thought a 40m arc for a point is too easy for big lads to get the distance. Score it from beyond the 45, make a 2pters a special score. N Grimley had a great long ranger in the final last yr, just worth a point, R O'Neill and R Beggan had 2 great 2 pters this year.memorable scores.Do away with a 2pter free, no benefit when county keepers hitting ball 60m in games. Maybe it make a goal actual value again. I also allow players inside their arc for kickouts. There no skill in a hit and hope to midfield and not enough room to go short on kickouts. You can dominate a game and get pinned in and beat in the last 10mins of a game

One benefit of the 2 pointer is it keeps an element of jeopardy alive for longer if a team is behind and stops a team with a lead going 100% defensive to see out a game. If you've dominated a game but couldn't see it out then that's just tough. For all the talk of how easy they are to score I reckon two pointers are rarer than they should be. As a neutral spectator to most championship games - at least the latter stages - I think it is definitely more watchable this year. The dissent punishment has certainly cleared a lot of the sh1te out of the game.
The 3 up is meant to prevent teams going 100% defensive? I think the two pointer is here to stay,(wouldn't be a fan of the two pointer) I think 4 points for a goal could certainly prevent the handballing around the arc and get more direct kicking into the inside forward line which I believe was the original intention of the FRC.

Quote from: Fogarty on July 12, 2025, 07:35:13 PMTyrone forwards lacked composure in the crucial 3rd quarter.
They will learn for this.

This was summed by Mattie Donnelly getting blocked down in first half which lead to Kerry goal. He should have goaled on a earlier chance too.
The goal chance was a difficult one coming in on his wrong side did well to get a score out of it.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on July 12, 2025, 12:12:15 AMSeen a horrible post on social media blaming the Chelsea player who injured Jota resulting in his requirement to drive/ferry home!

Some sad individuals
It's going to haunt that player for the rest of his life. I hope Liverpool supporters don't pick on him.
It absolutely shouldn't and I would be very disappointed if this was the case.

Quote from: Aaron Boone on July 12, 2025, 06:58:40 PMIt'll be 5 years next year since Tyrone won an All-Ireland and that is frankly too long. These gaps need to be closed with narrower regularity.
For a team that has 4 in their history and put out of the championship to Roscommon last year not sure why you would think that.

Decent return for them getting to a semi final in mor first year.  Finding a big target man and a few two point kickers would help them no end.

Quote from: Brick Tamlin on July 12, 2025, 06:40:04 PMTwisty Mickey on BBC just can't bring himself to give kerry credit. Non stop talk about Tyrone you'd think they were winning the way he was going on.

Bitter oul hoor
Is there anything to be said to get a co commentator from a county not involved? Switched between BBC and rte as both Eamon and Mickey hard listen too.

How many off the ball incidents has McKernan been involved in since came on pitch?

Quote from: SouthOfThe Bann on July 12, 2025, 06:36:19 PMHave Donegal a hope against that Kerry team either?

If they win tomorrow of course
If they mix up their running game with kicking game yes.

Excellent game well done Kildare and hard luck to Limerick who fought right to the end. Kildare 4 up and get a scoreable free and take it short trying keep the ball again showing the disadvantage of the hooter in tight games.

Quote from: gawa316 on July 07, 2025, 01:55:37 AMIs that Chelsea fella Madueke going to Arsenal as well?
Is he any better than Trossard or Martinelli? Played alot of his games for Chelsea from the right and not really what Arsenal need with Saka and Nwaneri there.  Strange signing if true.

Quote from: bennydorano on July 02, 2025, 11:04:37 AMI think on Sunday Kerry did a number on Crealey, he got the treatment, plus I think he gassed easily in the heat. Grimley was just poor. So Rafferty's options weren't great anywhere, but he wasn't good either.

Our midfield were poor and can hardly remember Crealey touching the ball with Grimley similar, as you say Kerry done their homework on us and done us good and proper. They pushed up and gave Rafferty nothing to hit or aim for so praise must go to Kerry for that, we didn't seem to have the energy to burst a gut to try and get a short one away. Sent back up the road with the tail firmly between the legs
Grimley kicked a couple of wides that I would have expected him to get in the first half.  Crealey kicked a wide in the second half which I think would have stretched the game out to 6 and would have been a big score after Rian had started to come into the game.  After Crealeys miss was really a flawless 15 minutes from Kerry.

Quote from: DaleCooper on July 01, 2025, 04:08:21 PMHow much game time did Blaine Hughes get this year?

I feel that the fortuitous change in GK last year had a huge bearing on Armagh's A-I win, especially in the latter stages - Croke

It gets to the point where you need specialists in all roles, hoping that someone can wing it usually doesn't end well, was disappointed to see Hughes dropped back to backup GK for Championship this year
Hughes played in the league game in Kerry this year and Kerry destroyed his kickouts too.

Hard for any keeper under that pressure Kerry put on Armagh kickout on Sunday and the lads aren't the field aren't giving Rafferty much of a digout. Rafferty contributes heavily out the field and can step out and play as extra defender also.  With his threat from two points I am glad he was the keeper this year.  Galway showed that chopping and changing the keeper can cause its own problems.

Would have picked Hughes last year in the old game over Rafferty not know though. Rafferty will have been training as a goalkeeper for quite sometime now so think we are abit past the trying to "wing it" stage with him.

Quote from: Capt Pat on July 01, 2025, 10:23:37 PMI see Kepa Arizabalaga has signed for Arsenal for 5 million. He originally cost Chelsea 71 million. What a mess. Mendy was much better for Chelsea.

Was solid for Bournemouth last season, very good deal for just £5m.

Don't know what Chelsea's strategy is though, they're just signing players for the sake of it it seems
Seems to be buy young players in the hope that they can make a profit on them, if they don't work out there be some resale value. If Chelsea end up as a serious side in EPL the only destinations that would be more appealing arguably are the big 2 in Spain so not sure how viable that is longer term.

Bought him for a World Record fee and release clause £5 million very poor from Chelsea. He was decent last year not exactly what Arsenal need but that wouldn't be altogether surprising.
