a while back I thought St Galls were done.  Whisper it quietly, but they may be slowly on the road back.  will get a better look at them in the next few weeks

would a problem be are the clubs too bunched up in some areas?  St Pauls, Rossa, Sarsfields.  St Galls, St Johns, O'Donnells. Eire Og, St Aggies. 

Has anyone did a study of what is optimum? like in an urban environment would 10,000 people per club be the norm? appreciate it is vastly different than the country clubs where much less is expected.

Working at a high level, If Dublin has a pop of roughly 1.5m and 134 clubs that leaves it loosely at 11,000 per club.   If West Belfast has a pop of 100,000 people then 10 clubs would be the suggestion. lots of Belfast specifics to consider including spacing out the clubs.     

People can talk about Cargin coming to an end but right now, they're top of the pile and talk is cheap. Somebody needs to get the big boy pants on and finish the job. Look at how many times they've come through extra time. They're a talented team but mentally, in Antrim, there's nobody close.

I would have thought that would be a starting point for a look in general at Antrim football.

Would the surprise factor be gone from Dunloy now?   the likely championship challengers would be better prepared to their threats than a couple of years ago.

A quick look tells me just 4 of yesterday's starters for cargin started the 2018 championship final.  Blooding a squad in those 7 seasons

They would be better served putting some reserve teams into Div 2 to make it competitive.   Must be the weakest Division 2 has been in 30 years.  that cant be good for Antrim football 

Glenravel, Creggan and Portglenone would be pleased with their nights work you expect.  Whitehill, Johnnies and especially Ahoghill and St Pauls seem to be struggling at this early stage.     

Has Clooney amalgamated with Ballymena for the hurling at underage as well? Some Camogie players play for St Ergnats lgfa as well?  Is this the solution for Ahoghill and Moneyglass moving forward?  Massive catchment area there. 

Was a brave performance today so credit due to the boys.   Armagh coasting and overdoing the want of a goal but take the positives and the 2 point shooting was encouraging.

Div 2 looks to be unpredictable again. Some clubs have started strongly. Surprised St Endas not picked up any points yet.

Who is over St.Endas this year? They've had some fall. In space of 4 or 5 years they've gone from C-ship contenders to Div.2 also rans.

Why is league football treated with utter disdain in Antrim? Can anyone explain it to me? This board makes it out that the league is a complete burden to teams,  I just don't get it?

is that a 25 to 30 mile catchment area? Great niche to find.   Only St Galls and St Brigids can compete with that

Don't know anything about them trying to get Cloughmills players tbh but even if the girls wanted to move, I was at a meeting recently and they were talking about a change in the rules for transfers within the LGFA and it seems it's near impossible to get them nowadays.

why?  surely it is the same process as other sports?

MADINE, THE DOWN FULL FORWRD, SCORED 3 GOALS IN A 6 MINUTE SPELL HALF WAY THROUGH THE FIRST HALF, WHAT A TALENT HE LOOKS. ANTRIM PLAYED RESONABLY WELL BUT WERE TOOTHLESS UP FRONT IN THE FIRST HALF. ALOT OF CHANGES AT THE BREAK CERTAINLY HELPED STRENTHEN THINGS AND THE BALL STUCK ALOT BETTER UP FRONT. A FAIR FEW LADS GOT A START WHO HADDENED IN THE PREVIOUS GAMES BUT NONE REALLY STOOD OUT. THE BIG GAME FOR THESE LADS IS THE "b" QUALIFIER IN A FEW WEEKS.
