I would think Laverty didn't want any risk of going down to 14 men permanently.  James Guinness was also subbed as was on a yellow following a ridiculous booking.

I cannot understand the league restructuring.  Many other counties have been trying to get less teams in the leagues in order to make them as competitive as possible.

I assume it was Burren's win over CPN.

Anyone on the board suffer from Plantar fasciitis currently or in the past? I have been battling it for a few years, can be brutal in the morning after an evening run or training session the night before,I blame work boots 40 hours a week and a lot of years tramping about a gaa field.
Anyone see a specialist about it or get treatment? I did 4x£50 sessions a few years ago with a specialist that just held a small device that sent shockwaves into my heel for ten mins, didn't help at all and cost a fortune lol

Yeah i had it pretty bad about 3 seasons ago.  The first few steps of the day were brutal painful and warming up for training was always sore but then I would be fine playing but the pain would return again after.   The thing that made the most difference to me was getting a pair of insoles and I wore them in all my shoes (but not my football boots).  I was advised not to shell out on pricey customised ones and I just bought Dr Sholl orthaheel sports insoles (quite tough, not gel like).  They take a bit of getting used to and the impact is not immediate but after a few weeks the pain was less and after a couple of months I was pain free.  Dunno if you jog but I'd give that a miss for a few weeks.

Good luck.

The majority of the games that didnt take place last season were in the Reserve 2 and 1 leagues.  IMO those leagues should have stayed East and South Down.  Possibly go all county for say an additional All-county league cup final.

The 2 Premier Reserve Leagues are highly competitive and Premier 1 is an excellent standard.  Most players at this level should be willing to travel All-County.

There would be 3rds teams well able to play in D4 never mind Premier Reserve teams.  Why has this topic even been brought up again?  Is it happening/proposed or is this just discussion?

Yes but you have to take into account what players from the relevant age groups are actually available in any given year.

Massive win for Carryduff v Clonduff, I cannot remember them being over strong at this level during underage?

Carryduff have a lot of depth available at this age group if truth be told.  Plus a decent sanction from DX.  I'd say they will fancy themselves for this but Burren will be favourites.

Nothing wrong with the refereeing yesterday.  Good final, very narrow margins in the end.

It's called the Antrim Cup (not the Belfast Cup) and there were teams in it from all over the county. Organised by Antrim coaching and games development officer, with some vital manpower provided by Gaelfast personnel.

This is an entirely different competition.  This is a localised preseason tournament featuring teams from Belfast that will be playing MacLarnon or C football this season.  Formalised challenge games so to speak.  Personally (being involved in it) it has been brilliant for us as we arent chasing schools to play friendly games and the fixtures run each week.  Regular games trumps training all the time for sure!
This year Aquinas, Rathmore, Knock and St Malachy's joined.  St mary's were invited but decided against it this time around.

The Antrim Cup for Y8/10 gave young lads a chance to get some game time befor etheir Ulster competitions later in the year.  It also gave newbies a chance to give it a go.  It was well run but ran over 3 weeks on the same day at the same time which was tricky for pupils and staff.  It would be good if next year it changed time/day each week.  The finals night and streaming was a great idea and the lads must have loved it!

Plenty of young lads getting football and it's great to see.

Timing is always going to be difficult for kids and teachers, especially at the start of the school year, but when would you fit that in that keeps everyone happy?

Schools have a lot more sport going on in them nowadays, compared to my days you'd two sports hurling/football soccer didn't get a look in and as for those other sports we didnt get a chance outside of athletics of course

The time of year was perfect for it. I mean just change the day or time of day each week. That means kids and teachers don't miss the same classes every week. Don't get me wrong it is a great initiative, this is just a practical step I would take to keep it developing and improving.

Does anyone know if tonight's SHIELD final is also going to be streamed (I know Cup Final is)?

Also, will the Antrim JFC final be streamed on Friday?

on kickouts:
I read an article recently saying that simply moving the kickout back into the small square would mean kicks would be airbourne for longer and this may encourage teams to press up to counteract shorter kicks as the chances of an interception are greatly increased.  Teams may then be encouraged to go longer as the risk/reward of a short kickout may no longer be worth it.  I think it said something like kicking from the square would change a kickout to a corner back on the sideline outside the 21 from c40m to c60m.  Not sure if I still have the article.
