Did England ever host the World Cup??  The biggest danger would be the weather.

It'd be a great idea, to the land of 100 thousand welcomes.  Who could talk to the ICC so that the winner would enter the next world cup and someone would be relegated.

Sure send then off an email yourself get the ball moving.

Done that so we'll just have to wait.

Very generic emall address so don't know how to access the movers and shakers.  So if you have time, drop them a line at

England hosted the first three World Cups from 1975 to 1983 and also in 1999. Generally you can rely on the weather south of the Watford Gap - not that it'll stop them staging matches in places like Edgbaston, Headingley and Old Trafford

I hate to see the Indian version of:

a) Granardb) Mullahoran

That said I agree with Dinny. Complete boycott of World Cup 2015.

I'd safely say granard is a one off

The nice thing about Granard and Mullahoran is that population growth is more or less under control.
The Indian versions might have had the same population in 1948 but could be tipping 100,000 now. That is great news for the football pick but otherwise it's not ideal.

QuoteDhoni is some captain . He's like the McGeeney of Indian cricket and they are crazy about him in Jharkhand which is his home state and would be the Indian version of Longford.

So he's the Indian Larry; fair play indeed.  ;)

Sounds more like a Westmeath man. Dhoni Cassidy.

79 for Morgan today. Thought he was going to make it to three figures.

Hopefully he's doing enough to get a run in the team.

Well - the ICC have reversed their decision and it looks like Ireland will be able to play in 2015 - provided they qualify

Brilliant.  And Kevin O'Brien does it again.  Fastest Century in t20.

Gloucestershire's Kevin O'Brien has said his century against Middlesex in the FL t20 was as good as his ton for Ireland in the World Cup.

The 27-year-old hit a blistering 119 off 52 balls to help Gloucestershire finish on 254-3 and claim a 105-run victory on Sunday.

Sorry to be pedantic but as great achievement as it is its not close to being the fastest. Andrew Symonds hit one in 34 balls 7 or 8 years ago..

Saw O'Brien on cricket A.M. at the weekend, he talked about the huge surge in interest in Ireland after the last 2 World Cups, came across as a really nice guy.. There was an interesting article in Sundays Times at the weekend on all the Irish players now plying their trade across the water in County Cricket.

Looks like Engerland are going 2-0 up.

Anyone see the incident where the english batter was run out, but, in the great british spirit of fair play the indians let him back in? Bizarre!

Watched it last night and the English fans behaved like scumbags. It wasn't very clear if the umpire called time for their tea break or not, but I can only assume he didn't as he was given out and rightly so.
