At some stage next year I hope to be starting to build in the North.  I work in the South and do all my banking in the South.

At the moment I'm told I can't use direct debit for UK utility bills from my Southern Bank account.  If I get a mortgage in the North I'd have to lift cash every month and drop it off in person every month to pay my mortgage.  It seems that even if I had Bank of Ireland accounts in Newry and in Dundalk its not possible to transfer £X every month to meet direct debit requirements in the North.  In this day an age I find it hard to believe that this sort of arrangement can't be setup.  Anyone know of a way around this?

Also can I get a mortgage in the South to build a house in the North?

Is anyone else using the HTML gear guestbook on their club site?  I've been having a problem with mine for the last couple of days, I can't login and people can't post entries.  Anyone else having the same problem?

GPA issues members with a ballot for strike
Wednesday, 17 October 2007
The GPA today issued its members with a ballot for strike action due to the on-going failure of the Government and the GAA to implement sports grants for inter-county players. This significant action is being taken by the GPA following an extensive process of negotiation with our members. Four provincial meetings were held followed by a period of consultation where every county squad in Ireland was contacted to gauge the mood in regard to the grants issue and any potential protest.

The GPA executive has advised its members to vote in favour of the action which will consist of a removal of players from all inter-county competitions next season.

General discussion / Audio Streaming
September 28, 2007, 11:13:58 AM
Is there an audio equivalent of youtube?  We'd like to put some interviews from former and current players onto the clubs site.  These could be half an hour in length or so.  Is there somewhere I can upload my audio files and play them back in the same way youtube plays videos back?

Anyone here host their sites with the GAA?  How long does it take from you submitting the request and them actually getting you up and running?

GAA Discussion / Team Sheets
August 03, 2007, 10:24:30 AM
Lads a couple of questions on team sheets.  A lot of clubs are now printing their team sheets out on a computer.  Most clubs will write the players number beside the players name.  I've got a few team sheets this season where the opposition have just put a tick beside thier starting 15.  Other clubs don't have the secretaries signtature, some have it printed in italic fonts.

We go to the hassle of making sure every player and all subs wear the corresponding number to the team sheet.  Are we wise?  Should I be worried about hunting down the club secretary to sign the sheets?

Some clubs are only printing a copy for the ref and we don't see their team sheet at all which is even worse.

General discussion / Sun Holidays
June 29, 2007, 02:49:06 PM
Its been a long time since I've be on a Sun holiday abroad so I'm looking some advice on where to go and more importantly where not to go.

There are four lads going so we'd be after somewhere with decent night life but it would need to have more to offer than night life.  We are all in our late 20's so we don't want to go somewhere which is full of 18 years olds.  We don't want to be ripped of for food/beer when we get there.  We don't want to be flying for more than 3-4 hours.

I've been looking through the brochure and online and to be honest all these resorts look the same.  Any advice would be appreciated.

GAA Discussion / Foot Block Rule Question
June 11, 2007, 05:27:48 PM
We had a penalty given against us on Friday night for a foot block.  The opposition player took a shot from well outside outside our 21.  One of our corner backs standing in the square stuck out his leg and stopped the ball.  The ref gave a penalty.  The player who stuck the leg out was 6/7 meters from the man who took the shot.  Was this a penatly?  I always thought a foot block was only given when players where in close proximity.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the GAA's corporate crest in sky blue and navy?  Its the one with the symbol of the hurler and footballer.

5fm the new Down and Armagh station are covering both counties games for the rest of the league.  I think their frequency is 105.5fm.  Should be handy for lads that can't get to games.  Does anyone know if they did the last round of games and if so what their coverage was like.
