Juries are supposed to be less biased on non song related issues. Public votes are as much based on geography as anything else. However, Moldova giving Ukraine 12 suggests that juries have their issues too.

Israel considered the most hated country in Eurovision... yet ended up with one of the highest volume of public votes.

Your daily reminder that social media is not an accurate reflection of reality. 

Because you can vote for Israel, you cannot vote against Israel.

This is it.  Those supporting Israel all voted for Israel.  Those against Israel either didn't vote or had 20 odd other options to vote for.

It's strange that how the voting patterns in a singing contest is deemed supporting a genocide in Gaza.

Apparently you can vote up to 20 times and only a small minority of the viewing public actually vote.
So if there is just 10 in every 1000 who are determined to vote for one act, that act has a very good chance of finishing in the top two. Not least because the other 990 votes are scattered over a varied number of acts and they're not likely to cough up the cash to vote twice or more

Israel 1st in the 2nd semi final,  Switzerland the eventual Eurovision winner only 4th in that semi final.     Netherlands who got kicked out finished 2nd.
