im not one for grave dancing so all I'll say is i think JOM's time is up now for all to see.
what mayo have missed this year is a little spark all these one point losses have me right sicken Coz they were all games we could have won but for a lack of a bit of direction and/or leadership. Im not close top any of the squad members so i dont know who within the team should be providing that but there was a sense of panic in the last 5 on saturday the spoke volumes. Previous incarnations of this team had a coolness that some took almost as a lack of fire or passion but it was a sign of confidence as i believe that thiese are an exceptionally talented group who have been poorly led.
Thare were some good pointers for the future Parsons confirmed he is a class act as did  K higgind, gardiner,Howley, CLarke, BJP and  Dillon
others disappointed  or were neither here not there but these are the guys along with harte and mcgarrity  we will be looking to lead for the next few years,
the powers that bee need to pick a new manager carefully and not give in to another populist choice because of stuff they did years ago. For such fine players many of the need to improve some very basic skills look ho many times we kicked they ball directly over the sideline or were penalize for  a bad pick up not to mention some players very poor shooting at goal when they  just looked very awkward and unused to it.
At least least it was better than last years humiliation to derry .
maybe be O'mahony has made Progress  ::)

What a whinging bastard.  surely your first concern shold be the future of the down tean and not trying to to piss onevery bodys party. remember all of these team have lost games in the championship this year already ready so are indeed not on their greatest form of their lives a few years back tjey would npt even have a chance to redeem themselves. in fact kerry monaghan oday was as good a game as you d want to see and mayo tyrone had a lot going for it. its obviously why the down wexford games was crap  and i think their was a style clash between kildare and fermanagh but clearly the better team won the first requise for a fair game

I think your problem is probably dont actualy like football in the 1st place and were only attracted by the buckfast. Im always highly suspicious when i see the phrase 'Gaelic' used before football. are you a soccer fan?

Well they might as well have one in Dublin too for all the southerners in the RIR.  It seems to be ok now, but not in my book.

not a bad idea . it has alway been like that though it would allow  the Jackeens to  show their True colours. It'll be 1900 all over again
ah the memories

Then in the Phoenix Park itself there was a magnificent spectacle, .......Then, even before the Queen came there was excitement, for a group of ladies and others of the Viceregal party on horseback and the Duchess of Connaught, also on horseback, rode along the long line of troops making an informal inspection – a proceeding which I have never before seen. At five minutes past 4 came the first moment of grand excitement. There was a murmur growing to a roar from the direction of Dublin, then one saw the cuirasses of the Life Guards flash, and in a moment the Queen was there. In that shouting multitude of about 200,000 persons, none seemed to have eyes for any persons but the Queen, who was looking very bright, with silver shamrock on her bonnet and parasol, and her two daughters, Princess Christian and Princess Henry of Battenberg, who sat facing her in the carriage. "God Save the Queen" was played, the air was rent with cheers, and from that moment it seemed hardly worth while to be possessed of a hat. For the inspection began at once, and as the brilliant cavalcade swept slowly past the troops band after band took up the National Anthem

A lot of the pressure on being a mayo footballer is how quick they are written off .
the two kilcullen obviousy lost the run of them selves last week but to dismiss them as haveing disipline problem is just daft. that where a good manager comes in and  make great players of ones with such flaws? they are obviously talented guys with an agression level most posters seem to think is lacking in mayo players.
and apart from a couple of  FBD games where he let no one down how exactly is colm cafferty written off so early?
age any one for alan roche ? 25? 26? probable just coming into his prime
another defender with a lot going for him is gary mullins yet another one of the disappeared. discarding players so young makes no sense defenders in particular improve with age.

QuoteWe why all the bashing of management and players ?
dont think anyone is bashing the players. sure we all have our prejudices and blind spots my being AOM and Boyle but i know they rey their hearts out but id blame the management for having them in the squad in the first place.
more shit about their not being any one to replace the back line.  heres a short list
James kilcullen
david kilcullen
connor moran
Liam o'malley
steven drake
sean grimes
Dermot Geraghty
Alan  Roche
BJP
colm cafferty
I know some have been tried before some haven't  and there are many junior and intermediate players i may not  aware of but dont give me there is no choice. if some thinf aint broke don't fix it but if it is dont whine that you dont have the right tools

QuoteTJ kilgallon         -      no real experience
James nallen     -       as far as I know zero interest in management at this stage
Joe kernan       -       would imagine it's unlikely he'll every manage anyone bar Armagh
Marin carney     -       viable candidate
martin brehony   -      will never manage intercounty too happy with his media work
aobheann o suibhellan  -   has too much experience  Roll Eyes
peter ford         -      county board wouldn't him a job sweeping the road outside McHale park
Bud spenser      -     Grin
declan ronaldson   -   has no appetite for management after his last whirl with Shrule, fell out with both Morts
denis kearney    -   I wouldn't give up JOM for him
pat homles     -   viable candidate

I wrote the list half in jest but my point was to get rid of the daft idea no one else could do the job. but i think some of the names are being written off without due consideration DIDn't TJ work with Ford in sligo? and produced some fine school teams .  again i could well be confused in the spelling of martin brehony  but i meant the ex Sligo manager and watch Ronaldsons appetite come back if offered the mayo job. Technically he would probably be the best man but may need a TJ or WJP figure to sell the deal.

But the most obvious candidate to move heaven and earth for would be Joe Kernan . He could bring every thing mayo football is lacking . A ruthless couldn't give a f**k who says what attitude, a willingness to play dirty low down Puke football with the emphasis on commitment and brutality. Now I would have to stop supporting them but allied with mayo's skill and Flair you could really get something going.
O mahomy has done his best to drive the hype and excitment out of mayo football and suceeded ,which i think explains us losing  all our tight games. Kearns could bring that back.  I would be amazed if he never manged again as i dont think such a driven man can be satisfied with a once off all-ireland win
and dont confuse jimmy nallen with Geezer who all the personality of a doorknob

Mayo / Re: Mayo Club Football.

Quotebut I'm sure if he was really inter-county standard JOM would have him in there
Just like he would have Austin o malley
IF he was county standard.

I love to see faith in action depite all the evidence to the contrary. My guess its a reaction to the decline of the church

I would have thought after his contribution the last day BJP would be next in line for a CHF midfield type slot. woth kilcoyne a close second.
though gill plays a very similar type game  to harte.
A missed oppurtunity for Barry moran too. he seemed to have a cast on last wee that would leave him without a chance.

are you rying to circumvent the club system. they won't like that. 1st port of call should be an existing hurling club they  should know the ropes
