I like the part where he plays with no discernible midfield, like a patented 5-0-5 formation, ne'er the twain shall meet

Maybe they play in a separate backs and forwards league we don't know about, or the headers and volleys cup?

Last night was only a training session for the real deal, Harry and Bruno definitely been practicing if last night is anything to go by

Quote from: Jeepers Creepers on October 03, 2024, 10:29:47 PM'Rashford was rotating with Garnacho' -ETH. This will be interesting.

His job is on the line and he makes a pre-ordained sub to take off a player who has criminally underperformed for the last year but is having a good game, he'll always be the Ajax manager that blew it against Spurs, 3 of them were playing last night and he's gone in for others, mans away with the fairies, Roy Evans to Ruuds Gerard Houllier, dead man walking, the weekend send off could get ugly

Quote from: tyroneman on October 03, 2024, 11:28:00 AMSurely there comes a point where other avenues for legal challenges are exhausted, or is there no mechanism to call for any and all challenges to be submitted by xxxx date so they can be dealt with one way or the other and progress either happens or an alternative is sorted?

Can a compulsory purchase order put an end to the constant objections and delays?

I would have thought that's exactly what they were for, otherwise no project of this scale would ever happen.
I believe you can appeal against an entire scheme rather than an individual CPO, which has been what all these "concerned" individuals have been doingfor years.

Quote from: Captain Obvious on October 02, 2024, 09:47:30 PMAston Villa v Bayern Munich was heading towards 0-0 result until Manuel Neuer decided to do a bit of day dreaming, Jhon Duran to his credit took advantage of the situation.

Neuer was 30 yards out for most of the game.  A few other villa players definitely contemplated the long range effort but didnt think they were close enough.

Emery set the Villa team up so well last night. Sit in, close space, break up play where you can and isolate Watkins/Duran with one of their centre backs. Upamecano lucky to stay on the pitch.  Would Arteta have gotten pelters for setting up like that?

Bayern are a quality side. Kimmich ran the show. And when they inevitably get the odd chance, Emi Martinez is some man for the big nights.

Agree with all of this, was a compelling game to watch, something of a smash and grab but fully deserved and great to see a club who were in the doldrums not so long ago rise and have a great night, fully deserved

Utd need a Dave MacKay type signing, Clough brought from Spurs to Derby when many thought he was finished and steered the ship to great effect. Someone mentioned before thinking outside the box. If Utd had any gumption they'd try and relieve Jordan Henderson from his living hell abroad, re-kindle the flame with Keane at the helm.

Quote from: tiempo on October 01, 2024, 11:30:59 PMAnother thing that struck me

Ten Hag won't buy British players, all this talk of identity, with all due respect teams in the English league need a British core too, man's definitely a few sprinkles short of a sundae
What exactly is core though? If you're talking about teams with a midfield that can control the tempo, mix it up, unlock defences and provide that bit of magic and creativity, none of the top teams rely on British players. I think it's why they struggle at the business end internationally. They don't exist.

Players who give a shit and refuse to embarrass themselves in their own back yard
Professionalism so. Kompany, VVD, Aguero, Rodri, KDB, Mane etc. There are many legends out there past and present who always led when the chips were down. Traditionally there were some great British players who personified pride and heart and got up no matter what, but in the new era the homegrown lad is probably more likely to roll around and sulk than Johnny Foreigner.
I can't think of too many English internationals who will deliver over 50 games a season. Stones and Rice? Ok they have a couple of good wide lads, but their game is more so getting on the end of things.

All teams have an international dimension, to succeed in the English league you need a British core, debase that at your peril. Selling McTominey was a big mistake, EtH is a fool of a took

Mason Mount will do that to you.

Instantly forgettable, worst player to ever own the number 7 jersey?

Quote from: maldini on October 01, 2024, 10:12:45 PMNot sure what's funnier, Utd fans actually wanting Solksjaer back or Utd fans thinking Keane could turn things around.

I don't think a man who's proven to be clueless tactically coming in to hand out bollickings or grab Rashford by the throat or something is going to improve things in this day and age.

Think outside the box lads.

The season is over, Keane doing exactly what you said is thinking outside the box, or let the players continue to rip the shit
