For context - McDonald's in the UK made profits of £341 million last year with one Director being paid £783k.

Sorry - was in a rush when I typed this and meant to say that was a 19% increase in profits. This is a big company making big profits and paying top Executives handsomely. I don't think £15/hr should be the minimum wage but certainly McDonald's can afford to pay that and should.

The economic model in place in Britain (and a lot of Western Europe and the US and perhaps elsewhere) presently is grossly unfair and is only going to go one way. Major changes are needed.

A minimum wage of £30k per year would put alot of businesses out of business.

I used to work in McDonalds as a student. Hated it, couldn't wait to work myself up to something better. Maybe McDonalds staff should do that if they want to earn more?

Why is it not like Rugby, where for the most part the referee asks if he wants something reviewed?

2 schools

Cathair Dhoire 3 schools 2100 boys
St Pats 1 school 510 boys
How many of the boys at each school play Gaelic football though? Are you begrudging those lads playing MacRory? Surely it can only be a good thing for Derry GAA.
+1

Exactly, boys like Ben McCarron last year got the chance to play in a McLarnon final, which would not have happened otherwise. Can only be a good thing. Fair play Cathair Dhoire.

I was at Lumen Christi in my day. Think we had about ten boys who played for a club, the rest were soccer boys. Got hammered out the gate a number of times. I would have loved something like this back then. Can think of a few boys who would have really excelled given the chance.

Has a political campaign ever shot itself in the foot as badly as the Conservatives have the last few days??

Labour haven't even done anything the Tories are just losing the plot!

If said it on here in the past. Corbyn wiped the floor with the conservatives in 17. I'm beginning to think the conservatives have learnt nothing. Is "get brexit done" the new "strong and stable"?

What was the numbers at the last election in NB?

21240 Dodds
19159 Finucane

There were 2k SDLP votes last time which are now up for grabs . It's very much in play.

It just comes down to a good old sectarian head count.

There is nothing sectarian about my dislike of the DUP

Even if SF had got all the SDLP votes they would have still lost by 23

Is Elisha McCallion the best SF can offer? She's been on every program over the last few weeks and comes across as clueless.

Shinners know that foyle is a marginal seat for them so are trying to boost her profile as much as possible.

She is a tool and should be hidden away, that would be her best chance of winning. Must be a real chance for SDLP to retake the seat

She is very weak.. Aontú could make the difference here. Anne McCloskey will take maybe 3k votes, its probably a matter of who she takes most off. I think SDLP would do better with Mary Durkan than Eastwood. One to watch

You can say that about Elisha but fact is she won the seat of SDLP 3 years ago for the first time. They had her posters up an hour after the election was called, seen a load of them this morning. On twitter as well trying to emphasise that SDLP haven't even chose their candidate yet. In fairness SDLP have had 3 years to think about it, they should really be decided by now. It looks like they don't think they have someone strong enough.... or at least that's the angle Sinn Fein are already pushing.

He did. His FB page is still up, so people have been poking around looking at his photos. He's holding an NI flag in a few of them, including that strange NI/Israel combo flag with the blue star of David superimposed on it.

Yesterday I saw a meme going around denouncing him as a loyalist with connections to the UVF/UDA. I don't know if that's founded or not.

Thought this must be the case. A colleague of Unionist persuasion last week was championing this fella as a victim of the media. Now he looks guilty she comes out today saying he apparently has links to the IRA. I just bite my tongue.

just for clarity, people on here seem to think the GFA stops at saying we can idientofy as British, Irish or both so here is the actual wording

Quoterecognise the birthright of all the people of Northern Ireland to
identify themselves and be accepted as Irish or British, or both, as they
may so choose, and accordingly confirm that their right to hold both
British and Irish citizenship is accepted by both Governments and would
not be affected by any future change in the status of Northern Ireland.

banagher 7/2 to upset the odds again against m'felt.

Glen 4/1 to beat slaughtneil.. anyone on the double?

how this works, if you put a 10er on glen, you lose £10
Maghera,/Magherafelt Double this weekend looks a good bet to me.
A novel county final. You know what they should do-make both teams travel to the Donegal border and play the final on the best surface in Derry (the best because no games are played on it) it should be played in Owenbeg or nowhere IMO

Owenbeg will hardly be big enough.

Having watched the majority of senior teams in action over the last couple of months here is my take on it all.

Slaughtneil - clear favourites for the title. Defensively so strong. Young Mc Neill could be a loss as they don't seem to have great cover in the back line. Who is the next player up if theres another injury? So strong on breaking which makes ballinderrys decision to go long with their kick outs even more puzzling. What is the craic with Patsy?

Glen - the contenders. Have been impressive so far especially in the wide open spaces of owenbeg. Could be bullied in the semi final? Great pace throughout their team and now look to have a bit of depth to their panel.

Magherafelt - Probably next up. Defensively well set up. Seemed to catch the surfers trying to see the game out the first day. Is it finally their time to step up and challenge slaughtneil?

Banagher - Have had a great championship run and getting to a final is not out of the question. Ive been impressed with their midfield of lynch o neill and mc Gilligan. Keeper also hugely impressive. Under no pressure going into a semi final.

Ballinderry - A team in decline unfortunately. Very little pace around the middle on sunday and sideline tactics would have to be questioned.

Screen - Also look to be a team in decline with many of their big hitters having seen better days, Mc Bride etc.

Lavey - Lavey had their chance last year. Will have to try to hang on to their older players to help the young lads come through in the next few years. No john Mc Laughlins heading their way for a while.

Bellaghy - Similar to lavey only maybe a year or two further down the line.

Swatragh - Disappointing end to what should have been a much better year for them. May rue this missed opportunity. Lots if big players but maybe missing a bit of craft at both ends of the park.

Coleraine - Best days behind them

All the rest could flirt between intermediate and senior in the next few years with none really with a realistic chance of winning the big prize.

I noticed this in last years intermediate also. Should he be a County contender?

Fionntamhnach's own Red and White tinted glasses wouldn't let facts get in the way of a complete lie, and he laments about Brolly, Jesus wept.

I don't deal with "alternative facts" and I've a low tolerance for bullsh*tters no matter where in the world they are. Also you haven't said yet whom you thought should have taken up Michael Lyster's job either. 😉

For everyone else, the story of the clip being played on the coach was confirmed to me through both a player on the squad and also a member of the backroom team at the time. The bereavement mentioned by BennyCake likely proved to be a factor for that game, but is a separate incident in itself.

OK, I had a rule to myself to keep away from talking about the arsehole this thread is dedicated to for several years now (with one exception) and now he's been finally let go from RTÉ with many others here also sharing my view, I'm going to take that vow again. Because for narcissistic attention seekers, the worst thing is not being talked about by others. 🙊

Paddy Bradley had a great game the first day and carried what was a very limited Derry outfit. Roasted Mickey McGee. A certain Dromore man got the nob the 2nd day and Bradley never got a kick. Derry were well beaten.

I don't remember the draw. Where was it played. Did the minor match go to a draw also, as from memory that was postponed that day, or is my memory just sketchy?

The one thing i do remember about that day in Casement was Tyrone's diving. It was the first time we seen it in action and they won an All-Ireland doing it that year.

Funny I remember Bradley whinging and yapping the whole match at the referee and Mickey Moran. We never saw much of him or Derry the rest of the year.

Yeah, because Tryrone were diving heures

To Brolly
Goodbye and good luck
And if we never saw your face again
It would be soon enough.

Complete and utter disgrace!! No reason why he should be dropped, great pundit and this decision will be regretted down the line no doubt!

Agree, be no surprise if host had an input - unable to debate - just shouts Joe down time and time again, only reason she is there is because she is a woman.

You might be trolling, but enough of that sh1t. She is a former intercounty player with a long and varied career in sports journalism. Joanne has as much right as any man or woman to be in the job.
