Hardstation's father. A stalwart of the Rossa club and a fine man. RIP

Spent an enjoyable bit of time yesterday reading through some of his posts here and his Twitter account. But, as others have said, it was the conversations away from the glare that marked him out; the conversations via PM on here and on Twitter were always insightful and extremely useful.

RIP

Unfortunately, whilst Humphries is without doubt a talented and entertaining writer his stock has gone somewhat in my opinion for a couple of reasons.  Firstly, his book "Laptop Dancing and the Nanny Goat Mambo" was so strewn with basic factual errors that the amount of research done must be questioned.  Secondly, on the eve of the 2003 All-Ireland final he did a disgracefully sanitised full page article the history of the Ballygawley / Glencull split.  The article suggesting that the disagreement was a mere misunderstanding and that resolving the split was the easiet thing ever.  A good journalist would have the balls to write honestly about the story, not to appease the big names being written about.

Howeevr, he is spot on iwth Micheal Grennan.
What were the factual errors ss? I read the book years ago and at the time I really enjoyed it.

Been a day or two since I read it myself, but if I wrote it, it must be true.

With such a measured upbringing, Tony, can you explain your total disdain for the false doctrines of the Protestant cults?

Big Boyd Rankin back in the load in time for the T20 World Cup. Can be expensive, but a decent option nonetheless.

I'm liking the new IFA kit. Good to see the nod to the original St Patrick's blue.

Enterprise doesn't always stop at Finaghy as far as I know.

It doesn't. You would need to transfer at Lisburn (hiding your new top). Definitely dandering distance from Finaghy.

How far outside of Belfast is St Pauls grounds? Was thinking of heading by train from Dublin to the game, but seems a bit outta the way.

About half a mile beyond Casement, no real effort for anyone who would want to go. Frostbit's private taxi is a decent shout, if there is more than one of you.

Or you get off the train at Lisburn (hiding your new top) and ring Eagle or Gransha to pick you up.

More entertaining than the hurling, you will be very welcome in west Belfast.

This thread now has more posts than the Brian Roper retires thread.

If Cratloe played Slaughtneil across both codes, who would win on aggregate?

I was doing car parking vigilante duties one night with a colleague who posts here. He reckoned I should visit the site; I joined in time for da gadderin at Banna Strand.

Keane kicked the ball away when Durcan went to take a kickout. He did similar in Limerick, throwing the spare balls away. Disgusting acts. There has to be a sterner punishment for this sort of behaviour.

Unsurprisingly I didnt hear them mention either on Sunday game either.

Niall Morgan says Stevie O'Neill practices that during Tyrone training sessions.
