Tony Loughman R.I.P.

One of Monaghan and Castleblayney Faughs finest servants Tony Loughman died this morning (Fri 1st June) after a short illness.

Tony played with Monaghan in the sixties and won eleven senior senior championship medals with his beloved Castleblayney Faughs. He holds the distinction of being the only holder of Minor, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Football Championship medals all won on the playing pitch. He won Minor and Senior with Castleblayney, Junior with Oram and Intermedite with Cremartin.

He played with Monaghan in the Sixties and managed the county team at all levels, Minor, Under 21 and Senior. Tony was known nationwide as a showband manager and and was noted in the latter years for his outstanding charity work. Deepest sympathy is  offered to his wife Joan and family Declan, Caroline, Ciara and Anthony.  They are very much in our thoughts and prayers at this sorrowful time.

Tony has suffered hard in the last while with the death of Daughter to cancer last year and then having to suffer the same disease himself.

I hope he is in a happier place now and that the family will take some comfort from this.

Has conections with almost every club in the Castleblayney area. Its a sad day in the town today.
