You can picture the conversation in Stormont if Trevor Ringland persuades Tom Elliott to go to the All Ireland final:

Martin:  Well Peter are you going to the All Ireland final

Peter:  No Martin I can't get a ticket

Martin:  I see Tom Elliott is going

Pete: Typical. I bet you wouldn't see that cnut at a McKenna Cup match on a cold wet night in January. Its always the same the true gaels get overlooked when the big games are on

It doesn't matter how many there are, and Jim Allister is one for a start, its how influential they can be in stirring up enough fear and therefore hatred to mobilise the masses, that is the main issue.

Has anyone out there got a view as to why he appeared to mellow in recent years, why he agreed ( maybe he didn't ) to share power with nationalists and embrace Sinn Fein and Marty Mc Guinness in particular ?.

Did conscience get the better of him ?.
In my opinion it was vanity on his part. For years he slated both unionists and nationalists alike. When he got his feet under the top table I think he enjoyed the power and kudos it brought so he realised he had to throw a few scraps.

That's it in a nutshell. As with everything in his life it was no good unless he was top dog hence his own church and his role in the Independent Orange Order

An Ulster ventriloquist visiting Longford, walks into a small village and sees a local sitting on his porch patting his dog. He figures he'll have a little fun.
Ventriloquist: " Are you all right there pal. Good looking dog, mind if I speak to him?"
Villager: "The dog doesn't talk, you stupid Nordie."
Ventriloquist: "Hello dog, how's it going pal?"
Dog: "Doin' all right"
Villager: (look of extreme shock)
Ventriloquist: "Is this villager your owner?" (pointing at the villager)
Dog: "Yep"
Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"
Dog: "Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food and takes me to the lake once a week to play."
Villager: (look of utter disbelief)
Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your horse?"
Villager: "Uh, the horse doesn't talk either....I think."
Ventriloquist: "Hey horse, how's it going?"
Horse: "Cool"
Villager: (absolutely dumbfounded)
Ventriloquist: "Is this your owner?" (pointing at the villager)
Horse: "Yep"
Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"
Horse: "Pretty good, thanks for asking. He rides me regularly, brushes me down often and keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements."
Villager: (total look of amazement)
Ventriloquist: "Mind if I talk to your sheep?"
Villager: " You don't want to be talking to her, she's a terrible liar."

Well that message doesn't seem to be resonating from Radio Ulster who still keeps referring to Londonderry winning the Fleadh. Its aggravating to say the least
#1793
His attendance at a GAA match could jeopardise the co-operation talks with Tom Elliott

I am in agreement with Tony. A hateful auld cnut who, despite appearing to mellow in his dotage, is still one of the reasons why Norn Iron went the way it did.

When he meets his maker I hope he has his excuses well honed.

Well said Shamrock

Where in USA is this company based? Could you be getting an Oakley from Muskogee

Classic from Sabrina Sweeney on Evening Extra on Radio Ulster this evening when she announced that
'Londonderry is back in contention to host the All Ireland Fleadh next year.' I kid you not you can hear her if you go into the I Player and move along to 17.09

Bottom line is that it should have been beaten by either Sligo or Ennis as Ulster will already have had it 3 years on the trot and apart from once in the 1950s no province has had it any more that three times in a row. Its just as well the same BBC hoors - Nolan and Wendy Austin who were complaining about it today would also have been complaining about the amount of on street drinking had Derry got the Fleadh. Keep it in the 26

Primary school's are full of children from one parent and broken families.

By the sound of things you could have done with a few extra days at primary school yourself

Good lad Shamrock, throw the lump of bread into the hen run and stand back and enjoy them fight over it!! Great entertainment for your Birthday. Here's wishing you a happy one and lots lots more of them. And a happy Christmas to you and your family as well. Hopefully there'll be a Horslips gig some time soon.
