Got two unexpected Ulster's with Derry, serious achievement and Derry will more than likely return back into the pack now he has left.

I don't think youse will nrico.. Great club scene going atm looking in from outside and you've had great underage teams past few years.. Them senior titles youngsters can see there's something for them to join

Always had strongest club scene in Ulster and good underage sides, need someone special to harmonise it all together.

I think that's a myth about having the strongest club scene in ulster.
When Crossmaglen dominated Armagh for years it didn't mean they had the best club scene, only that they had one top class club.
Derry have had 2 top class clubs over the last 10 years in slaughtneil and Glen.
I actually think Tyrone club scene is the most competitive in ulster, there's realistically 5 or 6 teams with a chance of winning the championship. They don't do well in ulster interestingly.

In my opinion, one or two top clubs can be enough to generate a serious intercounty side but only temporarily.
A more competitive club championship should provide a more stable senior team over a prolonged period and I think that explains Tyrone and also why Armagh peaked for a while.

Derry have about 5 years I reckon with thus squad being able to challenge, but another club or two could rise too to keep us there.

That's unfair about the club scene. For years clubs like balinderry, Coleraine, glen, slaughtneil and maghetfelt would have given any club team in Ireland there fill of it. Would love to have seen Derry revert to a straight knockout championship..think some of the draws and matches would be exceptional

FS it is unbelievable the calibre of people who class themselves as big Derry fans.

On a public forum asking why McGoldrick hasn't rejoined the panel....tell me you know f**k all about Derry GAA without telling me you know f**k all about Derry GAA.

Derrys fitness didn't seem to be as good as it was last year. Seemed out on their feet after 10/15 of the second half

Any Armagh posters. What's the story with Oisin O'Neill? Will both brothers be missing or are either likely to come back for championship. if rumours are true

dont think we will see Oisin this year. Dont know whats going on with Rian

Had been wondering where Oisin was. Did he miss all of last year too? Is it a run of injuries?

He had a substantial operation in London to address an Achilles injury and isn't match fit yet in recovery from that.
He'd need to be playing for the club before he could envisage a return to county.

He missed all last year with the club as well didn't he? Fully fit he would be a massive player for armagh

Is it true that the dual players in clubs will have something like 35/40 games between league and championship this year in the space of 3/4 months? Surely that's too much for amatuer players no?

Well there are 13 league games in the football & guaranteed 6 championship group stage games (potential for 3 more- QF/SF & Final) so there's potential for 22 football games. Wouldn't be sure of the furling formats at all.

Hurling has an early season league, an actual league and then group stages for championship which then decides if you're senior, intermediate or junior. Roughly 16/17 games before knockout in championship I think.
Seems it will be Sunday, Wednesday Sunday for the dual players basically every week

sounds brilliant, much better than training.

Don't get me wrong, matches are exactly what everyone wants. For example someone from slaughtneil who starts for both codes and isn't on either county panel. He will be expected to play Sunday Wednesday Sunday , while also doing the gym work needed and attending football and hurling training during the week, especially in the run up to championship

I might have missed this in the chat, but what's going on with Aaron Gillane then? Not on the panel for the rumoured altercation with rugby star or what's the story

Alleged court case pending...

Must have been sorted before getting that far 🤷

If every player was willing to commit in the county, realistically how many players would get in the 15 that isn't on the county panel now

No harm lads, but the Downey's would make any team stronger. If anyone's club had the opportunity to get two/three county quality players into their team and making them stronger they would take that opportunity all day

There is a reason they have ended up where they have, not sure if any other club/ team would have entertained them in this way. St Brigids used to taking on outsiders as they are an emerging club.

Aye their dads fell out with the club. Can't be blaming them for something like that. They must be in a terrible position, friends all playing for Lavey and then their dad/uncle falling out. Really lose lose for them

Are they all dual? Im sure be a welcome boost to st brigids hurling team if they are

Na just footballers. Lavey wouldn't have as many dual players as previous years. Could be wrong but I thought they where basically made choose one or the other
