Craic lads? Had our Club AGM there during the week. A constant issue we have is with setting the fees for the year. Admin / affiliation fees with Croker has meant we need to charge approx £80 each year per member. Due to many of our new members being backpackers, many people have been put off joining with a club here because of this. We tried to get round this by offering periodical payments though this has left us out of pocket with members having to move on for one reason or another with barely half paid off. Many clubs here struggle enough financially as it is!
Now the disappointing part is that we get no real assistance from Croke Park with anything, despite their conflicting statements. We have also been told that only 10% of each payment goes to croke with about 25% going to insurance. Is this the same for other International Clubs?
Its about time that croke were more transparent about their finances as I'm sure even some counties are being screwed with clubs in my own county nearing bankruptcy whilst certain GAA 'employees' are raking it in.
