More rules 'tweaks' announced this morning. Defending teams now need to have 4 men back in their own half. Thats the most extreme of the changes today, I note however that they will be implemented at county level immediately and for club games at the discretion of county boards between now and May.

Interesting  :-[

So tomorrow night won't have what then? Any of them? The first batch or the one before this tweak?

You'd think that to be the case anyhow. I'd imagine the whole of round 1s fixtures will be out of the equation. Maybe an e-mail to club next week before round 2.

FactCheck

first round will be under the original rule enhancements and not as part of the amendments made this week

likely to play at least two rounds as is given that each county must meet to decide if they bring in the changes or not, so the break between game 2 and 3 would make sense

BigGreenField

Occasionally chat about *starred games league structure, may need a starred season for 2025*

*nobody had a clue on the rules this year

Lár na páirce 1

Newest rules apply to this weekends div one fixtures I've been reliably told expect clubs to get correspondence about this

Round or stuffed

is the first game not tomorrow, surely can't have different rules for one game out of the season

You'd think it would be a good idea to inform the referees of these rules changes before the first match.  Some are still in the dark

Be regular updates to be fair with links to the current changes from CP, queries covered when questions asked. But be interesting to see how it works when it matters, I'm not out this weekend (but have two challenge games!) so will take in a game and see what happens when the heat is on

Do you think you'll find yourself edging more toward refereeing more  hurling matches?

Not really, I did think about taking a back seat in football as its hard enough without the changes but I've done 4 games already and one more challenge game tonight and providing things are good it won't be as bad as my initial thoughts were..

Hopefully at the nitty gritty stages of the league and start of Championship all the refs will be a lot more confident going forward, and that goes for players/managers/supporters

You'll know better but I'd imagine league games are going to be the issue with one official. At least with championship you've a chance with linesmen and umpires to assist.  Just waiting for the first borderline 2 pointer that wins a game somewhere

I'd assume like last year in all games even in the group stages there were linesmen and umpires, not sure if the grounds will have the hooters available and unless all do and the teams have had a chance to trial them then I say like most counties they wont..

Antrim have officially contested the Ulster Council's decision to stage their provincial SFC quarter-final against Armagh in Páirc Esler next month.

It is understood the county lodged the objection to Ulster GAA's decision to Croke Park this past weekend and awaiting word on when a hearing will take place. Antrim footballers have maintained they will not play the game anywhere other than Corrigan Park.

That's the summary...
