Blowitupref

injury time point wins it for Derry.  FT Derry 1-13 Sligo 0-15.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

SLIGONIAN

Heart breaking 1pt defeat for Sligo, hit the post to go a 1pt up in injury time where Derry got score off that to win it

A great win for Cavan.
So that is it for us. U21s were the best of a poor enough year.
The best description I heard of the seniors v Kerry was insipid.

Apart from Cavan v Galway they all look one sided games on paper. No odds on minor anymore but i can imagine Kerry v Dublin All Ireland final would be the shortest odds.

No apart needed.

Good lad Syferus, you should know at this stage you don't underestimate Ulster teams at underage level.

Minors wouldn't have got past Kerry next anyway. Forwards just not as good as the bunch that got us to the final last year. Have kinda muddled through games this year. Still though they led for pretty much the entire game until the Cavan goal 7 minutes from time. That seemed to knock the stuffing from them. Some right unhappiness on the sidelines with the ref's display going by the radio.

Itchy

Galway led 9-5 and were out scored 1-6 to 0-2 in last 15 mins. On radio cavan commentary said ref brutal for cavan too.

What a shame! I had seen many of the Sligo team in Connacht Colleges games during the year and was impressed by a number of them. The great pity is that the result will reinforce the thinking that this was inevitable. Great work being done at underage in Sligo for some time and it would be nice to see it rewarded.

Once again you get it wrong Sy.  What a biased idiot you are....
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not too sure.

Never mind Seafoid....there's still the hurling!

Red of Murphy scores 11 Pts (I think) about 6 from play.  Great talent, hard luck Sligo, very proud of the team, we just didn't win enough ball from kickouts

Sadly I put too much into them hammering Sligo.

Galway were targeting the AI and after returning many of last year's AI finalists, as well as the best minor footballer in the country in Evan Murphy. They will be desperately disappointed losing at the AIQFs.

We didn't have many back from last year. Only 3 or 4 I think.

The ones ye had were class, though. Manager was talking about going one better than last year after the CF. Will Murphy give up the football now?

We had no forwards back crucially. Apart from Murphy but he played midfield this year. We had a couple of backs back but defensively we were OK. The forwards were down a level on last year though.

galwayman

Yeah definitely this year the forward talent individually was not as high as last year.
I was very impressed with them in the Connacht final in spite of that though.
Disappointing to go out at quarter final stage.
