Monaghan have lost Barry McGinn for the rest of the year after he did his cruciate against Derry in the Shamrock Cup on Sunday.  That was his third game in three days!!!  He was on the UCD team that played in the Sigerson on Friday and Saturday before lining out for his county on the Sunday.  That is utter madness.  Poor fella.  He was man of the match against Tyrone in the Ulster Final last year.

Did Monaghan really need to play him in a  Shamrock Cup game after he'd already played  games on the two days previous to it? Surely they already knew what he could do from last year.

Its hard to believe how at a manager at that level could be so idiotic.

I was surprised he picked such a strong team last night and it looks like it will come back to haunt us. We'll pick up plenty of injuries with the amount of games coming up and its going to start affecting our league form.

Given all the money he's made in his career it would just show how greedy he really is if he made the move to China instead of the US.

How so MM?
Surely if he is making a move for money it is irrelevant if he goes to US or China.

Both poor standards and this time Next year China will have more big names than the US

No comparisons in the quality of life between the 2 countries. According to the reports the last few months his family won't be going to China with him.

Get rid of the league, keep the provincials and create a championship that would guarantee every county a minimum of 6 games on a Champions League format.

Cue the ability to lose a few games and win the All Ireland debate.

It would but we've been here before when the structure was changed in 2001. Its not possible to keep the provincials and expand the championship for everyone without getting rid of the league.

It was a great game last night involving 2 teams who haven't a hope of winning the trophy. Monaco were the better team for most of the game but had a crazy 15 minute spell which has probably cost them the tie. As for Sterling it was a very open game which suited him, Pep has far bigger problems than Sterling though mainly a back 4 which are very poor.

I almost feel sorry for Wenger, its not his fault the Arsenal board haven't a clue about football matters but in fairness to them their more than happy with top 4 finishes every season although this could be the season when they finally wake up. Its 13 years since they won a title and that was probably the last time they were genuinely in a title race with a few weeks to go. What must frustrate Arsenal fans more than anything is his tactics, time and time again Arsenal get found out against the best teams and lost count of the amount of hidings they've had during that time. I don't think it matters what players he buys anymore, he's not been up to the job of challenging for top honours for well over a decade.

Arsenal are making some of same mistakes United made when Fergie left, looks like on paper he'll leave a good squad but the reality is that their short on really top players and their best player by a mile probably will leave this summer.

It could be a tough few years for Arsenal if they change their manager, he'll certainly have money to spend but as it stands their certainly not prepared to pay the wages required to entice the best players. They do have a huge wage bill but thats down to the size of their squad.

Good result but didn't deserve to win 3-0 with that performance. It was certainly Bailly's worst game of the season but wasn't helped by the lack of organisation in front of him. Change of formation didn't help and bringing on Lingard at HT helped despite him not doing much. He should be able to rest several players for the game next Wednesday ahead of the cup final.

Quiet on here so we must have won

Agree with all of that Seanie, just worried about the amount of games we'll have. Mourinho has said that training won't be as intensive due to this already.

I stated a while ago that Carrick didn't need to play in games against teams outside of the top 6 at OT and even in games away from OT against teams that are just going to sit. Left back worries me, Rojo will probably get a run once he's back from injury.

Had the Dublin game the TV and Mayo on the laptop so was flicking between games. Looked like Andy Moran had a great game, he's showing no signs of slowing down and is hugely important to Mayo. Didn't see anything though to suggest they've found any new forwards, Boland is getting game time so must be doing enough to impress Rochford in training.

A very poor opening quarter left Corofin chasing the game, Crokes were excellent during that period and Corofin couldn't get out of their own half. That was a poor goal to concede, thought Power was far to slow to move his feet. Ref was poor although he didn't affect the outcome of the match, I've never seen a ref take so long to speak to a player and issue a card, he could have added 4 minutes injury time alone  in the last ten minutes for the length of time he wasted speaking too players.

You can "bring a club on" without making the top 4, especially when there are six teams seriously challenging for it. Assuming that those six clubs continue to challenge for the next few years, are we really suggesting that at least two of the managers of those six clubs are going to lose their jobs each season? That's just ridiculously unrealistic and clueless. Hopefully the powers that be at Liverpool are a little more considered and pragmatic than that, especially when Chelsea, United and City are nailed on most seasons.

And, once again, City, Chelsea and United "swung the axe" upon the failures with championship winning squads.

I agree although you've got to take into account the budget available to a manager and the teams he's inherited.

Top 4 isn't everything though, their are at least 2 other trophies to player for each season; Liverpools record for a club of its size over the last 10 years just isn't good enough, think its you've won one trophy in that time.

Klopp is the right man, he just needs to be backed in the transfer market.

Time to judge Klopp is at the end of the season, he inherited a shambles of team and has had to makes changes on a budget.

If he can finish top 4 then he's done a good job considering his squad is the worst in the top 6 and hasn't had access to the money United, City, Chelsea & Arsenal. No European football has been a huge advantage though this season as we've seen whats happened when you've had to play 2 games a week during the last month.
