What's the best set up to do on a Amazon stick. I have a pre-loaded one but it's buffering like mad. Someone mentioned a Black box lite? Will it make much difference if I change the spec?

Well, some people were posting earlier about having 1-2 MB which obvs would have difficulties with HD streaming. I'm running it on the new Fire TV, so I shouldn't have any hardware issues.

First weekend over and done with and very happy with it. Sports Mania looks great. I've 300mbps fibre so no issue streaming HD. It was absolutely perfect HD for the NFL last night.

What does everyone use for streaming live "regular" tv? Have gone through a good few of them already and while fine, haven't come across anything "great" just yet.

I use Dextertv for live TV, it has all I need on it, the Irish channels, NFL Redzone etc.

Used these two links to help me install Kodi and The Black box on a Firestick yesterday, it took me 10 mins.

I was thinking more of the hardware hosting the stream , its capacity and the like as, opposed to your own kit Gallsman. Having fast broadband and good kit at home obviously helps

Ah, I getcha. Of course, anything like this with dodgy streams is entirely dependent on the broadcaster and it's not as if can take them to Ofcom if any issues!

I have the Fire TV for the wired connection and the 4k processing. Have the Fire stick for travelling/occasionally moving room if a TV channel conflict.

Came across something called "Ares Wizard" - give it a search to see some videos or reviews.

Have tested it out and seems like a good idea - Basically you install it like you would the Beast or any other build - but it isn't an actual build itself.  Once installed, it gives you the options to install various different builds with the click of a button (no entering addressed) which it has rated by downloads etc.

It also has a built in maintenance option, which runs automatically when you open Kodi each time and gives you a prompt whether you need to clear cache or purge packages.

I am trying out the "SpinzTv premium lite" build at the moment I think it's called and it looks a decent alternative to the beast.

You can also choose to add individual addons instead of a build as such, if you want to keep the memory down.

The good thing is, that within the maintenance option, you can then force a "fresh start" which wipes Kodi of everything except the "Ares Wizard" itself - which allows you to try out a different build without having to manually enter new repos or addresses.

Best bit of advice I've seen in this thread, try it Norf Tyrone.

Just a note, a few people have been having issues with The Beast and BlackBox has been put up as a viable alternative

Lads- Ive installed Ares but when I get to this screen is not allowing me to install any build.

It flashes up "downloading The Black Box" for literally 1/4 second but nothing happens.

Anyone any ideas?

That page seems to suggest that their servers are struggling to cope with the demand, if you scroll down to last couple of posts which were yesterday it says early in the morning is the best time to try...

This is the inherent trouble with Kodi nothing stays the same and what was good advice a couple of weeks ago now mightn't work

Thanks Boycey. I'll try it late tonight/ early tomorrow to see the craic.

Does anyone know if I delete Kodi will Ares go too? If I can't get it up and going I'll do that and reinstall from scratch to see if that works.

I uploaded this at the weekend to the Kodi on my Fire Stick.  Really good so far.  full TV menu, all the USA channels and UK channels and some movies for streaming.  Not to mention a Full channel dedicated to Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy etc  :D

Pleased so far.  I cant seem to get the blackbox build to download on my stick though, is it any good?

I got the black box onto my fire stick no bother. Make sure you install the black box build rather then the fire build.

At a glance bar the sport I'd say what you have is the more or less the same as blackbox. The TV guide looks very similar.

dumped The Beast installed the latest version of The Black Box. I used the link below:

http://tutorial-iptv-xbmc.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/the-black-box-build-wizard-add-on-for.html?m=1

Wee query if anyone can help. The last few pics of the Black Box install guide, it has the add-ons laid out in nice category menus, mine however (same as the beast) are all listed together on the left hand side of the screen. Its no biggy, but if it can be tweaked, great
