Arguably the best Laois footballer over this time period was Bruno, but he never really got a decent run with the county, so you can't really pick him here. O'Loughlin's consistency and scoring threat puts him ahead of Quigley and Garvan for me. Donoher often under rated but a great workhorse and always seemed to pop up with a point too. Lillis gets a nod as well as does Healy. i remember him absolutely gluing himself to Bernard Brogan a few years ago, Brogan was in his pomp at the time and almost unplayable, but I think he was taken off that day. Can't remember the exact year, maybe around 2012 or so, I'd have to check. He was some man-marker. O'Leary, Fennelly, Begley, Rooney the close calls for me.
I'd probably pick Beano as my favourite player in this time period, I just loved watching him play, pity the way things went for him with the injury
I picked Hughie Emerson on my team, and it is interesting to see a certain Hugo Emerson on a Laois u14 football development squad that has just been announced.

Hughie played in the 2000s, he may not have been at his peak, but he did play. Even if he was not at his peak, I always felt that he was underutilised by Micko.
Hughie played 1 championship game in 00, he came as a sub 3 times in 03 win, that's it

I wonder are you from portlaoise ?
Since portlaoise won 14 county titles in the 20 years
I wonder would their county best be a match for the rest

Couldn't leave anyone of full back line out so Healy at 3
Always liked Ian Fitz, when in full flow he was some player (leinster final 03 for example)
I'll go with an an "alternative" team.
Lads I liked watching. Might not all have been top 15 but a personal choice.
Brody
Healy, Cathal Ryan, Higgins
Tom Kelly, Paudge Conway, Donoher
Garvan, Danny Donoghue
Ross, Ian Fitz, Woolly
Chubby Lawlor, Beano, Danny Doogue.

Certainly an alternative team alright. Paudge Conway centre back? Danny Doogue played very little senior football for Laois. Danny Donoghue?
Good thread, to me Kevin Fitz and McMahon both definites in any team. Cant take teams seriously without

When I thought about it we didnt produce that many really good forwards.

Just guys I liked watching play in the last 20 years. Probably should have Paudge full back and Cathal centre back! Like I said, not the best 15 but my 15!

While this is true it's towards with consistency we haven't produced we have had great talents who gave us short spells

David Murphy
Mj Tierney
Daithi carroll
Paul Kingston
Bruno
Donie Brennan
Wolly
Greg Ramsbottom
Gary kavanagh
David Conway
Stephen Kelly
Colm Kelly-stradbally
Have all had decent spells in them years too

Daithi Carroll looked like he would play for Laois for 10 years when he first broke through. What a talent he was. The injuries cost us some player in Daithi in my opinion

Surely, not definitive. Just another opinion of the best 15?
