heard that shay mckeown is close to taking on killyman.they've shown potential this past few years but can mckeown get them to commit to the cause?not too sure..they seem to over-enjoy the social aspect of the whole thing...

EC Unique

Pascal is staying as a player for another year. No news yet on managment for Errigal yet but I seriously do not think the Omagh management will be considered!

DuperDee

Heard that too about McKeown and Killyman and that the Killyman managers -Tony Quinn and one other- from last year are away to Aghaloo
Had heard before Christmas that Tony Collins was approached by Killyclogher as the players wanted rid of McCann. Collins is working in Magherafelt with John McElholm and I had heard that Loughmacrory had also approached him as the players there refused to take John O'Brien for another year.

Heard also that McElholm was taking winter training for Drumragh so he may be intending to go there in the new season.

With the changes in the leagues this year there is so much pressure to do well and clums are looking for the right man to get them up keep them up. Like most years you can see a few early manager exits by the first half of the league.

Quarterback

Guys wats up with cavo i herd he was at all of the trials and going quite well..Perhaps this could be the end for him?? I also herd that Mc Ginn was told by harte that theres a place for him on the panel if he gives up the soccer...He obviously decided on the soccer.

As for the panel itself a few suprises but none the less oozing with talent.  Looking forward to seeing young Ciaran McCrory at full back, hell be a revelation and could be the man to stifle the threat of donaghy..roll on 2007!!

There's been no decision made in Drumragh yet about management for the New year.

I have seen a lot of very ordinary footballers give McCrory his fill of it, so I would be sceptical. Nice guy tho..

Keep them at it.

From the Dublin County Report:

Senior Football
For the first time since the mid-1990s, the Dublin senior footballers successfully defended the Leinster title this summer – that was the management and team's stated objective at the beginning of the year and they delivered. Dublin seem to have contributed to several championship games in recent years to which the "classic" tag has been attributed après match. Unfortunately, these "classic" clashes always seem to be games that we lose narrowly. This year we lost against Mayo in an All-Ireland semi-final 'classic' after looking like winners at one stage.

Unfortunately for us, there is little consolation in losing a game of that nature and, hopefully, in 2007 the management and team can mature from the hard experiences of this summer to lift the level of their performances even further and bring Sam Maguire back for the first time since 1995. Winning Leinster though is still a great achievement, despite talk of the need to revamp the entire Championship structure and the constant commentary, especially from Ulster, that Leinster is the weakest of the four provinces.

The team and supporters also lit up Croke Park with some fine displays against Laois and Offaly to be crowned provincial champions. Dublin did not concede a goal in their Leinster campaign nor against Westmeath in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

A wee bit of paranoia about Ulster?

Tyrone beat Queen's University Belfast on a scoreline of 0-09 to 2-14 today at Healy Park in the 1st Round of the Gaelic Life Dr McKenna Cup. O'Neill was given a straight red card for striking a player.

Anyone at the game that could give us a more detailed report?

Tyrone's new men shone in Sunday's 2-14 to 0-9 Gaelic Life McKenna Cup win over QUB but the win was marred by Stephen O'Neill's late straight red card.

Keeper Jonathan Curran made three great saves for the Reds Hands which helped them lead 0-6 to 0-2 at half-time.

They extended the advantage to 0-10 to 0-2 but Queen's then replied with six unanswered points.

However, impressive Niall Gormley then goaled for Tyrone and Colm Donnelly went on to hit his side's second goal.

Gormley hit two of Tyrone's six first-half points while O'Neill, Owen Mulligan (two) and the lively Donnelly were also on target for the Red Hands.

Other men joining Gormley is making their first Tyrone appearance included goalkeeper Curran and Chris Colquhoun.

Tyrone led 0-3 to 0-0 after 10 minutes before James McGovern and Justin Crozier replied for the varsity outfit.

However, Queen's could have been ahead at that stage as keeper Curran, a late call-up to the Tyrone squad this week, made a brilliant double-save to deny Fermanagh star Ciaran O'Reilly.

Later in the half, Curran showed again that he may challenge Pascal McConnell and John Devine for the number one jersey this year when he made another brilliant stop to deny Kevin Niblock.

Tyrone hit four points in as many minutes after the break with Aidan McCarron, Gormley, Colquhoun and Sean Cavanagh on target.

Queen's, to the credit, responded with six unanswered points through Gavin Donaghy (two), Michael Ward (two), Kevin Niblock and Aidan Carr.

However, Tyrone killed off the Queen's comeback when Gormley hit the net after a superb O'Neill pass.

Declan Trainor set up Donnelly's late goal but Tyrone's previously satisfactory afternoon was then ruined when O'Neill received his straight red card after an apparent off-the-ball incident.

Queen's also ended the game with 14 players as Paul Courtney received his second yellow card in injury-time.

Stephen O'Neill opened the scoring with a free. (0-1 to 0-2). Mugsy added a second point from wide on the right shortly after McGourty tackled Hub around the neck. A foul on S Cavanagh saw him convert the resulting free for a 0-3 to 0-0 lead. Paul Courtney and Kevin Hughes picked up yellows, Queens after several missed shooting chances eventually opened the scoring with a free from James McGovern following a foul on M O'Rourke. Then came Curran's spectacular double save from Jor ireland who was on as a blood sub for Charlie vernon. Curran parried Ireland's first shot back at him but he got up again to save the second effort. (Impressive). James McGovern made the score 0-2 to 0-3 with a good score. Niall Gormley replied with a good point for Tyrone. A foul on SON saw Mugsy make it 5-2 from the resultant free. Colm Donnelly who previously missed a chance made it 0-6 to 0-2. The half finished with another magnificent save from Curran who diverted a rasping shot from Niblock out for a 45. (Half-time 0-6 to 0-2 for Tyrone).

Aiden McCarron replaced Mugsy at the start of the second half. Tyrone got off to a quick start in the second half with 4 scores from Aiden McCarron, Niall Gormley, Christy Colhoun after some great quick passing, and Sean Cavanagh. 0-10 to 0-2. Qub then enjoyed a good attacking spell with four points from Gavin Donaghy twice and Kevin Niblock and a long range effort from Aidan Carr. Niblock made it five and then six in a row for QUB to bring the margin to 2 pts (0-10 to 0-8). Tyrone responded with a goal from Niall Gormley to effectively put an end to the competition (1-10 to 0-8). Mcgee replaced McGurk. Kelvin Hughes then got his name on the score sheet with a fisted point and Christy Colhoun extended Tyrone's lead to 1-12 to 0-8. The game was becoming more niggly and after an earlier skirmish there followed another one following a foul on O'Neill. Stevie unfortunately made a striking movement at Gavin Donaghy (who performed the customary sack of potatoes) and to me the ref apologetically sent him off. It wasn't a shocking blow by O'Neill but he was probably done for the intent. References to the referee's Derry pedigree were heard above the resulting boos as O'Neill walked. (He's out for next week's Derry game and also it seems the clash with Dublin in Croke Park). QUB's Paul Courtney was sent off minutes later for two yellows as the game drew to a conclusion. Tyrone scored two more points from A McCarron and a S Cavanagh free while Daniel McCartan replied for QUB. Tyrone finished the scoring with a goal from Colm Donnelly. Final Score: 2-14 to 0-9.

The UUJ three were all present with the Tyrone squad but were not called upon. The injured members (Dooher, Gormley and McGuigan) were also present in addition to Gerard Cavlan.
