Had a poor enough seat on Sunday. I was in the Pat McGrane stand section, 4 rows back and about 3-4 metres from the half way line. The TV camera that was located at half way blocked my view of the goal on my RHS. I had to watch all the action down that end on the TV screen on my right.
Not the end of the world but still a bit annoying for a season ticket.

when i got my tickets last week i noticed they were row c, and i knew that was way too close to the front, so emailed them and they reassigned them to the very back row of the seating section, perfect height. Really the season ticket people should know what is a good ticket and what is a bad one. In Clones where the front row is at eye level with the grass then the first few rows will always be restricted viewing with camera men, water boys, lines man, even them big yellow gates get in the way.

Has he retired from the commentary too? I know he gave up managing the station.

Tom Comack used to do a bit of commentary, but that may have been with Northwest/Ocean. Given that he's a Roscommon man, his commentary wasn't quite as nakedly biased as Charlie's!

I always thought McHugh was a good foil for Charlie. McHugh was biased in who he wanted to win, but he was also brutally honest and perhaps too pessimistic and severe at times in his assessment of Donegal.

As far as i know he is gone from the station completely, open to correction though. He did do a podcast, a preview of the Donegal v's Down game that was released on youtube, maybe this is more the road he is going down, his own media company.

Do the lads on Highland radio still give the refs a hard time.
I used to love listening to donegal matches on that channel just to hear the craic with them.

The commentator that gave out about the refs all the time on Highland, Charlie Collins, left just the week before last. Not to sure what the commentary was like last Sunday as I was at the match, and NOT  giving out about the Ref as indeed we are too classy  8) Though it was a bad ref  ;D

Karl Lacey to make his comeback appearance in a league game against Kilcar. As things stand Donegal have a fully fit squad to pick from.

Though how many of them will be match fit.

It all depends on your definition of match fit. At the moment they are doing 3 nights intensive fitness training plus a league match for their clubs every weekend. I would have thought that seven weeks of that level of preparation would have you ready for action.

True, they are not playing matches as a county team but then neither is anyone else.

I thought i read somewhere that Mark McHugh was struggling for that game with an injury

yea chat of a Hamstring problem for Mark McHugh

Looks like they are making a family event on the 21st and 25th with a game of Statues(Operation Standstill), haven't played that in a long long time, I might join in on that one,  as it Province Wide there must be one going on up here in Donegal too, maybe they are looking to get it into the Guinness Book of Records for the most people playing Statues at the same time.

I suppose there is little else for him to do.  Still fairly young so maybe he'll come back.

I wonder how he'd do in the Mark II Irish championship?  Now that would be something to watch!!

you never know he might be interested, here he is in Donegal in 07 helping to jump start a MRK II

I am probably over simplifying the problem here but in my eyes most (not all) of the people who go to games regular manage to get tickets for the final through their clubs.
Of course there were those who aren't part of a club any more or are like me live in Dublin or Belfast now and tend to get their tickets elsewhere for the whole season.
So the GAA came out with the season ticket which promised those an AI final ticket if they're team get to the final. So that in my eyes has rewarded those who have went for that option and who support their county all year long

To me the simple problem is those fans (and I include my own syblings and inlaws) who watch me and others go to games all year long and almost snigger at you driving hundreds of miles to support your team but then when it comes to semi final and final days they then jump on the bandwagon. They throw up all these arguments like why should the Clare hurler manager of the U12's get  a ticket before me for the Donegal v Mayo game. Surely I've more right to that ticket that they have as its not even their own county.
In my eyes there are too many 'fans' who don't bother their hole going to anything all year from year to year but when they make it to the AI final they fly home from NYC and Sydney expecting a ticket & often getting one just cos they know the right people.

I still don't have one and it doesn't look like I will get one. I think I'll go and watch it in the skylon.
Where is the banquet for Donegal?
