Galway are a wounded animal at the minute and need (as we do) all the points. Hopefully we get a reaction too

Quote from: BennyHarp on May 13, 2024, 10:37:21 PMGAA matches have been behind a paywall forever. Even before TV we always had to pay to get in to watch a game live. Why do people expect to get every game beamed into their houses for free but have to pay for the privilege of travelling half the country to watch it live? Maybe we have it arse about face, perhaps we should make it free to get in the ground at all games at every level but put every match on tv behind a paywall.

It's about promoting the game too in fairness, so if you can get all the games why not show them off?

No one is saying that the likes of a streaming service is not a revenue builder, before streaming we still had reasons to generate money, but some matches like Saturday night with everything on the line for Cork at home against the reigning champions needs viewed free

Is Gaago owned by RTE or the GAA?

They need to decide on an ongoing basis which matches to broadcast live instead of fixing everything before the championship starts.

Just put football games on it..

Quote from: Armagh18 on May 13, 2024, 06:08:40 PMDo many counties have their own streaming service? I know Armagh tv do a good job with club games etc and Down and Tyrone have their own as well I think. Surely it'd be possible to let them show their own counties games if gaa go/rte don't have it.

Could rte not have some sort of red button service to even link these together?
people want/expect to watch all the matches for free on TV, they don't want to pay for gaago, they'd crack up altogether if you add in another streaming service 🤔

Paying for it for it to crash every so often isn't good value. Loads of times it does thst

Yeah but when you have rights etc involved then the games are scheduled way in advance. Did you know 2 months ago that this match was going to have riding on it what was riding on it?

The last few years of the Munster Championship have been the best about, nearly every game in that championship has something riding on it, also doesn't take much to figure out that these games would generate plenty of interest, the sceptic in me thinks that other games would not fill their grounds if they had the game on free TV so rather not worry about games that are stadium fillers and go for others that might have an impact of revenue at the gate.

Obviously provincial finals will need to be shown btw regardless of their capacity grounds

Quote from: tiempo on May 13, 2024, 10:40:26 AMAhhh the old ... not having top quality football people ... chestnut

One step removed from Neville's 'best in class' trope

So to address that they've acquired a 71yo billionaire minority shareholder supporter and Jason Wilcox

The football world is trembling at the prospect!

And if all else fails blame the Glazers, who to date have 5 PL titles and a European Cup under their tenure

I don't know any other industry where you would have people making decisions on acquisitions who aren't experts in that given field. So sneer at the football people comment all you want, its a basic short hand for people making decisions about which they have experience and expertise in. But I'm guessing you know that already.

It isn't about one man either, it is about getting a structure in place that can make strategic footballing decisions that are not manager dependent, to prevent the club ending up in the position they currently are with a mish mash of players from 5 different managers.

In a proper structure which INEOS are attempting to put in place, this wouldn't be allowed to happen.

You should of applied for the job by the sounds of it, they've just appointed a 71yo supporter after all, or would you be the technical expert, been tough up against Wilcox, apparently a dressing room jester in his time with not an ounce of sense, hope the due diligence is done on the latest raft of bluffers let through the door

Look on the bright side, a year or 2 at Wembley while the stadium is being redeveloped will make it easier for supporters to get to games

From Ireland? Cheaper to fly to Liverpool and head up

Quote from: JonnyD_ on May 13, 2024, 10:57:24 AMi keep coming back to the players - the current crop! we definitely have something with the players. getting them all out with a full pre-season behind them and injury free and can beat the best.

It's serious commitment, 3 nights a week, your own S&C on your days off, game at the weekend or away for the weekend, no breaks in the year, still doing your bit with club when you can and its not as good as it sounds.

I'm not surprised that there are drop outs, or breaks in training and no surprises that they have injuries, some toll on the body, but we lack quality depth which when you look at some of the games lately the lads coming on to some county teams as subs have some impact.

Whether we can beat the best is debatable, certainly in one off league games or Championship games at Corrigan we can be competitive but being consistent needs crops of players coming through every year, otherwise, which has been happening for a few years, we burn out that squad, they all retire around the same time and we play the Christy Ring for a year or two!

Stopping the Limerick powerhorses through the tackle is bring results, reducing the throws handpasses have brought results too, thought Cork for most parts brought that to the game..

Easier said than done considering the size of these lads, and they have a fair bit of skill too.

Not sure if Aaron Gillane scored from play, and that is a huge ask also, so a few things went well for Cork on the day..

The only time though to beat Limerick is in Knockout

Quote from: clonian on May 13, 2024, 09:36:39 AMI need to hire a car in Malaga in July. Been looking at a few options and got some recommendations for the companies to use but I was wondering are you better taking the higher cost options to cover for the issues with scratches etc. I have heard of some nightmares on returning the car.
It works our €268 without the extra cover and €1200 on your card or €412 with the higher cover level.

Go over that car with a fine toothcomb and take pictures of any scratches that are there before taking it..

Been a while since I've hired a car think the last ones were Sixt and it was ok, some bullshit with trying to upsale you on the day, but They are all at it.

Quote from: gallsman on May 13, 2024, 09:07:09 AMEvery now and again ITV puts out a really, really good show. They make them so hard to watch though with the quality and ads on ITVX.

Have lost all faith with ITV X and don't bother with it, maybe its the broadband we have or I've looked at some reasons being the TV isn't up to speed, or whatever, but I'm not alone when it comes to the quality of their streaming

Hard to see where to go from here.

I wonder what will come out of the strategic review  :o

That's the thing about strategic reviews, they are dependent on who is writing them and who is reading them. Here's my strategic review, we still haven't upped our game at inter county under age level.

Do you think we (antrim players) prefer the club over the county? Because, even at underage, the best players are still not all involved, and that's not down to the mentors
