I dont think we can make any judgement really, he has had no club football and little training this long while.

We got absolutely zero kick from our bench on Sunday though. McGeary did ok i suppose

McShane is only back in training following a lengthy lay off. It would be pretty desperate to throw him on. We have a lot of men that need a good pre season training - Oguz, McShane, McGleenan, McGeary, Mattie Donnelly. It'll take a while to get them up to speed. They do require match fitness as well, im not sure how thats achieved in the present condensed season.

Some of the basics was really poor on Sunday. A couple of basic kick passes from Kennedy that went astray, the mark Niall Devlin missed was poor - got to be scoring that
Very sloppy at the beggining of second half, allowing Galway those first two scores were just as critical as the goal
No urgency coming out of defence, even after a good turnover and with pockets of space to run and kick into. No real purposeful running off the shoulder - all too lateral and slow

The FF interchange system we persist with doesnt really work. We had kilpatrick in there for a few spells - never once kicked an early ball into him. What a waste. Cormac Quinn had a 5 minutes spell in there, Im still confused about that

Correcting some fairly basic stuff would make a significant improvement straight away

Quote from: Tyrone Dreamer on February 19, 2024, 04:14:23 PMYesterdays game wouldn't help sell it to anyone but do the county board need to find ways to help improve the support and atmosphere at county games? Every McKenna Cup and league game is currently played in Omagh and can be a pretty drab place especially when the crowds are fairly low.

Would it not be better to take 1 or 2 games a year to other club grounds? A packed Carrickmore would have been better than a quarter full healy park yesterday. Dungannon should be another option going forward as well.

They certainly aren't playing them all in Omagh for the quality of the surface.

Great shout. The stand wasnt even full yesterday, we are getting particularly poor crowds. There is no justification now playing all home games in Omagh.

Quote from: Gabriel_Hurl on February 15, 2024, 03:00:56 PMWould that be Plunkett Donaghy's two cubs on the bench??

Steve started at No.4 & had a right good game, with his brother Adam on the bench. They are both sons of Plunkett, yes.

Quote from: bennydorano on February 11, 2024, 06:15:38 PMOmagh pulled away at the end but I didn't think they were streets ahead of Dungannon as Niblock and Morgan constantly were laying on thick, DG got level with about 10 to go then a goalkeeping error let Omagh back in front and really killed DG.

Fair play to young Holmes on the DG side, a great performance, the same lad was carried off in the semi with an injury I thought looked bad (obviously not that bad). The other wing back Neeson had a great game too, but you could have driven a bus down the Dungannon CHB channel for most of the game. Overall i thought it was a quality contest but still plenty of mistakes from both sides.

Good game. Felt Dgn def closer but the goal they conceded was a killer. Holmes probably best on show for Dgn with 6 also putting in a good shift. Young McKeown(?) from Ardboe no. 12 had a good game as well. Dgn missed a open goal in 1st half and that might have put a different complexion on the game.
Omagh have some very talented lads. 6 definitely one for the future. 8 also had an excellent game. They worked the same kickout over and over and Dgn still couldn't stop it. Picked off their points well.

If you put those two teams and Donaghmore together there is some talent in Tyrone. Hopefully the county can bring them through.

yeah, two years in succession we have had 3 semi finalists from Tyrone schools.
The addition of Diarmaid McNulty to the county U20 coaching set up seems like a good move as well.
The U20's isnt straight knoackout anymore, its moved to a league format. I think this will suit too

If Kilpatrick doesnt get the suspension overturned in time, we are already looking at two enforced changes to an already inexperienced starting 15

Any word on Joe Oguz? I didnt see him on the sidelines last Sunday.

Any word on King Conn's appeal?

He's unavailable

If Glass & Ethan Doc are available going forward, they could possibly turn the tables on UCD

Both Academy midfielders were excellent - Hughes was a prominent threat, reliable from frees, but i thought their No. 9 was even better. Cant mind his name now. Lost count of how many clean kick outs he won, always an outlet on the Academy kickouts. Liam McGeary showed very well too in the SPAD attack
Agree on Noah Grimes, fantastic prospect. One to watch with Tyrone U20s this year

It was a really enjoyable semi final - especially when you consider that not that long ago, both these sets of players would have in all likelihood have been playing for the Academy. If Omagh CBS do indeed lift this years McRory cup, the emergence of Donaghmore convent taking boys in has cost the Academy a McRory.

O'Rourke insisted those players take a break before commencing the club season. For example Glass had over a month off. Practically the month of August - he didnt train at all. These lads dont drink the way the previous generation would have, they will be rearing to go
The fact its a Saturday game complicates it a little, Derry will be travelling down on Friday. Had it been a home game on the Sunday, you could be sure they would be available

Enda, R Daly  Ultan, Hussey, Heneghan, O'Rourke, B Stack  Fallon, Dolan, O'Carroll, Cunnane, Nolan(?)

Didn't you hammer Galway without them all missing? Few of the St Brigid boys could be available too. Should be an away win against a struggling Tyrone missing even more players.

It was a development Galway team. First choice Galway 26 was off playing outdoor challenges as Joyce and his management didn't see air dome games as decent prep for the league.

Enda Smith said after the match on TG4 last Friday that he didn't expect Brigids players to return until round 3.  A lot of the list Rossfan posted would be first choice Roscommon players and they already have to deal without Conor Daly, Ciaran Murtagh,Cian McKeon gone traveling all three was championship starters last summer.

Can you list who Tyrone are missing? I would expect this to be the year that a lot of Tyrones 2022 U20 All-Ireland winners to become established seniors.

Difficult to articulate who all is missing for Tyrone as management point blank refuse to answer any questions in relation to this

However the following are definitely confirmed out: McCurry, McGeary, Meyler, McShane, Mattie Donnelly.

The following havnt played any games yet, presumed injured: Burns, Oguz, McGleenan & M O'Neill

3 Retiree's from last season also, McNamee, Richie Donnelly & Sludden

meyler definitely still rehabbing.

impossible to predict a line up really. There is a break after the first two league games, id be hopeful of a few returnees then

Any word on McShane? Oguz? McGleenan?
